A.Ş. is seeking an Import Specialist to join our Foreign Trade team in Turkey. The role manages import operations from order placement to final delivery, with emphasis on customs procedures, LC transactions, and international logistics. You will coordinate with freight forwarders, brokers, banks, and internal departments; monitor shipments, prepare import files, and ensure compliance with Incoterms.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in International Trade, Logistics, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Preferably 3+ years of professional import operations, foreign trade, or international logistics.
  • Strong knowledge of customs procedures and import regulations.
  • Experience with Letter of Credit (L/C) transactions and international payment methods.
  • Experience in reviewing customs declarations and import documentation.
  • Familiarity with sea freight, container operations, freight management, and incoterms.
  • Excellent English communication with international suppliers and partners.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and follow up import operations for raw materials, machinery, equipment, and other goods from order placement through final delivery.
  • Coordinate international transportation operations, primarily sea and road freight.
  • Obtain and compare freight quotations and coordinate with freight forwarders and logistics providers.
  • Monitor vessels, containers, shipment schedules, ETDs and ETAs.
  • Coordinate with customs brokers to ensure timely and accurate customs clearance.
  • Review import declarations and related documentation.
  • Manage L/C processes including opening, document control, amendments, discrepancies, and banking coordination.
  • Follow up international payment processes with Finance.
  • Ensure compliance with Incoterms and delivery terms.
  • Monitor costs (port, storage, demurrage, detention) and minimize delays and expenses.
  • Coordinate with overseas suppliers, freight forwarders, shipping lines, banks, and internal departments.
  • Prepare and maintain import files, cost calculations, and operational reports.
  • Manage multiple shipments during high-volume periods and anticipate issues.

Import Specialist


Meltem Kimya is looking for an Import Specialist to join our Foreign Trade team.


We are seeking a team member who can manage import operations from order placement through final delivery and who has solid experience in customs procedures, international logistics, letters of credit, and import documentation.


Responsibilities


  • Manage and follow up import operations for raw materials, machinery, equipment, and other goods from order placement through final delivery.

  • Coordinate international transportation operations, primarily sea and road freight.

  • Obtain and compare freight quotations and coordinate operational processes with freight forwarders and logistics service providers.

  • Monitor vessels, containers, shipment schedules, loading dates, ETDs and ETAs.

  • Coordinate with customs brokers to ensure timely and accurate completion of customs clearance procedures.

  • Review import customs declarations and related documentation.

  • Check bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, ATR, EUR.1, and other foreign trade documents.

  • Manage Letter of Credit (L/C) processes, including opening, document control, amendments, discrepancies, and coordination with banks and suppliers.

  • Follow up international payment processes in coordination with the Finance Department.

  • Manage import operations in accordance with applicable Incoterms and agreed delivery terms.

  • Monitor port, storage, demurrage, detention, and other logistics-related costs and take proactive measures to minimize delays and additional expenses.

  • Coordinate with overseas suppliers, freight forwarders, shipping lines, customs brokers, banks, and relevant internal departments.

  • Prepare and maintain import files, cost calculations, and operational reports.

  • Manage multiple shipments and import operations simultaneously during high-volume periods.

  • Identify potential operational issues in advance and take proactive action to ensure continuity of the supply process.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in International Trade, Logistics, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Preferably at least 3 years of professional experience in import operations, foreign trade, or international logistics.

  • Good knowledge of customs procedures and import regulations.

  • Hands-on experience with Letter of Credit (L/C) transactions and international payment methods.

  • Experience in reviewing customs declarations and import documentation.

  • Good knowledge of sea freight, container operations, freight management, and international logistics processes.

  • Good understanding of Incoterms and international trade practices.

  • Advanced level of English, with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with international suppliers and business partners.

  • Strong analytical, planning, follow-up, and organizational skills.

  • Proactive, solution-oriented, and capable of taking initiative.

  • Able to manage multiple operations and priorities in a fast-paced working environment.

  • Detail-oriented, responsible, and disciplined.

  • Strong communication and coordination skills and ability to work effectively with different departments.
