Job summary

Siemens Smart Infrastructure - Grid Software; SI GSW is seeking a System Administrator to manage the IT infrastructure for Grid Software projects. The role involves installation, configuration, security, and monitoring of enterprise systems across Linux/Unix and Windows environments.

The position is mid-level, permanent, and hybrid (remote/office) with no travel restrictions. Strong scripting and experience with virtualization and database administration are valued, along with English

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical-Electronics Engineering or similar fields
Minimum 3 years of proven experience as a System Administrator, Network Administrator or similar role
System administration and IT certifications in Linux, Microsoft, VMware, or other network related fields are a plus
Experience in Linux/Unix and Windows operating systems in an enterprise environment
Strong knowledge of complex IT systems, networks, software, hardware, and networking protocols
Hands-on experience with virtualization technologies (Red Hat KVM, OpenShift, VMware, Proxmox)
Experience in designing, deploying, and implementing core router/switch/firewall and data center networks
Experience in routing protocols and WAN technologies including MPLS, DMVPN
Experience in software licensing and versioning tools (Git, Subversion)
Experience in Linux/UNIX shell scripting
Knowledge in Java or Python is a plus
Experience in Oracle Database Administration is a plus
Excellent problem-solving aptitude and analytical skills
Strong communication and ability to work with multidisciplinary teams
Professional working proficiency in English (German a plus)

Responsibilities

Design, Implementation, Installation and Configuration of complex IT Infrastructures for Grid Software Solutions/Projects and corporate needs
Install, configure, maintain and operate systems, software, hardware and networks; upgrade systems
Troubleshoot hardware and software errors; document problems and resolutions
Design and monitor LAN/WAN systems and equipment (switches, firewalls, routers, NMS)
Implement security services for corporate and customer networks
Define and maintain an up-to-date security threat landscape
Monitor and maintain software licensing and maintenance agreements
Maintain and administer versioning tools like Git
Install, configure, patch, upgrade and migrate Oracle Database servers; monitor health and performance
Prepare technical documents and specifications
Adhere to Siemens security requirements for Embedded, Web, Mobile, Cloud & IoT environments
