Job summary

Eaton is seeking an Application Engineer – Switchgear Controls & Digital Systems to join the Power Distribution Services team. This hybrid role can be based in Hengelo, NL, or Ankara, TR, and involves working on future-focused technologies across the EMEA region.

You’ll execute engineering activities for MV/LV switchgear retrofit projects, focusing on control, protection, and digital systems, including SCADA integration and relay programming.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in Power Distribution, Services, or Switchgear Engineering.
• Strong knowledge of MV switchgear and protection relays.
• Strong understanding of switchgear, trip units, and control systems; experience with SCADA systems, RTUs, digital control architectures, and RMUs.
• Hands-on experience with protection relay programming, configuration, and commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Execute engineering activities for MV and LV switchgear retrofit projects, focusing on control, protection, and digital systems.
• Deliver solutions involving SCADA integration, protection relays, trip units, RTUs, RMUs, and digital secondary systems.
• Support relay programming, configuration, testing, commissioning, and on-site project activities; design and integrate SCADA-ready control architectures.
• Provide technical expertise and support to service teams across EMEA; conduct site assessments and customer visits to define project scope.
• Act as a technical champion for switchgear controls, protection, and digital systems; contribute to documentation and best practices.
