Job summary

ING is seeking a GCP Data Engineer to design, build, and optimize cloud-native data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform. You will collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, analysts, and software engineers across international teams to enable analytics, AI initiatives, and data-driven customer experiences.

You'll apply software engineering best practices, design scalable data models, and contribute to modern data architectures that power insights at scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Excellent communication skills and collaboration with globally distributed teams.
• Hands-on experience building data pipelines using PySpark and Airflow.
• Strong programming skills in Python and SQL.
• Experience designing data models and working with relational or distributed databases.
• Understanding of software engineering best practices, including CI/CD and testing.
• Hands-on experience with GCP services such as BigQuery, Cloud Storage, and Cloud Composer.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable cloud-native data pipelines on Google Cloud Platform.
• Build and optimize data ingestion, transformation, and storage for large-scale datasets.
• Develop reliable data models supporting analytics, reporting, and AI use cases.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Implement software engineering best practices, including automated testing and CI/CD.
• Monitor and improve data platform performance, reliability, and observability.
• Support AI, ML, and MLOps initiatives by delivering trusted data assets.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and engineering excellence within the team.
