Job description

IE Media, Inc. is a global digital media publisher covering technology, engineering and science. We reach millions of readers worldwide through articles, video and social, and we do it with a small team spread across Turkey, the US, the UK and India.

We are looking for a Finance & Operations Manager to run the operational and financial backbone of our Turkish entity and to be the CEO's counterpart on everything administrative. This is a senior, hands‑on role with no team beneath it — you will do the work, not delegate it.

What the role actually is:

You will be the single point of ownership for finance operations, people operations and compliance in Turkey, working directly with the CEO and with our external advisors: our certified public accountant (SMMM), Turkish and US legal counsel, our US CPA, payroll providers, insurers and banks.

The company runs on documentation. Every expense, contract, payroll cycle and staff file has to be recorded correctly, on time, in the right system. That discipline is the job.

Finance operations:

• Own the monthly cycle end to end: payroll preparation with our accountant, SGK and tax filings, bank reconciliations, supplier payments.
• Keep every invoice and payment receipt filed in Drive and ClickUp within the week it arrives. No gaps at month end.
• Manage vendor and subscription contracts: track what we pay, when it renews, who owns it, and challenge anything that isn't earning its cost.
• Prepare the monthly expense and cash position pack for the CEO.
• Coordinate with our US CPA on intercompany transfers and reporting.

People operations:

• Run onboarding and offboarding to a fixed standard: accounts, equipment, contracts and records complete on day one, and fully closed out on the last day.
• Maintain personnel and performance files for every employee, in Drive and ClickUp, complete and current.
• Manage leave, timekeeping and the equipment register.
• Support the CEO on performance cycles, compensation administration and headcount planning.

Compliance and office:

• Manage our Teknopark obligations: project reporting, personnel allocation, monthly filings, liaison with the technopark administration and our accountant.
• Support Turkish legal compliance (employment, KVKK, corporate filings) with outside counsel.
• Run the Istanbul office: facilities, suppliers, equipment, day-to-day logistics.

What we need from you:

• 7+ years in finance operations, business operations or a combined finance/HR administration role. Experience in a Turkish entity of an international group is a strong advantage.
• Working knowledge of Turkish payroll, SGK and tax processes — enough to hold your own with an SMMM, not to replace one.
• Fluent Turkish and strong written English. You will work in both every day.
• Comfortable with financial detail: budgets, cost tracking, reconciliations, vendor negotiation.
• Genuinely organised. Deadlines hit without reminders, questions answered the same day, problems flagged before they become late.
• Able to work independently with a CEO who is often in another time zone, and to bring solutions rather than elevate decisions.
• Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Industrial Engineering or similar.

Nice to have:

publishing or digital media experience; familiarity with Deel, ClickUp, Paraşüt or QuickBooks; Teknopark or R&D incentive experience.
