Job summary

Drillmar is seeking an experienced Drilling Section Leader to join an offshore Africa deepwater drillship operation. The role requires mobilization in December 2026 and a 42/42 rotation.

UK, EU or South African nationals are preferred due to travel costs and work permit restrictions. A minimum of 3 years in similar roles on drillships or deepwater semis within the last five years, plus NOV drilling equipment expertise and IWCF/OPITO safety qualifications, are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years experience in the role on-board a drillship or deepwater semi-submersible within the past 5 years.
• Experience of deepwater drilling campaigns.
• NOV drilling equipment expertise; IWCF/OPITO safety qualifications (BOSIET/FOET with CA-EBS) and medical fitness for offshore work.

Job description

We are currently recruiting an experienced Drilling Section Leader to join our client's deepwater drillship operating offshore Africa.

This is a permanent position and the successful candidate must be available to mobilise in December 2026 to commence a 42 / 42 rotation.

In order to be considered, candidates must be UK, EU or South African nationals. This is due to restrictions on travel costs and work permits in the area of operation.

In addition, the following training / experience is required:

• Minimum of 3 years experience in the role on-board a drillship or deepwater semi-submersible within the past 5 years.
• Experience of deepwater drilling campaigns.
• NOV Drilling Equipment expertise.
• IWCF Well Control - Combined Surface & Subsea - Supervisor level.
• OPITO Basic Offshore Safety Induction & Emergency Training (BOSIET) or Further Offshore Emergency Training (FOET) with CA-EBS.
• Medical Certificate of Fitness for Offshore Work - OGUK or STCW.
