Job summary

Mirsis Bilgi Teknolojileri is seeking a skilled Data Scientist to join a client in the banking sector in Azerbaijan. You will analyze large datasets, build and deploy models, and collaborate with product, engineering, and data teams to translate business needs into data-driven solutions.

You will design experiments, build end-to-end ML workflows, and communicate insights to stakeholders while continuously improving models and processes in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or related quantitative field (Bachelor’s or Master’s).
• 3+ years of professional experience in data science, ML, analytics, or related role.
• Strong Python experience with Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn or similar libraries, and solid statistics knowledge.

We are looking for a Data Scientist for our client in the banking sector in Azerbaijan.

Responsibilities

• Analyze complex and large-scale datasets to identify meaningful patterns, trends, and actionable business insights.
• Develop, validate, and deploy statistical models and machine learning solutions to address business and product challenges.
• Collaborate closely with product, engineering, business, and data teams to translate business needs into data-driven solutions.
• Design and conduct experiments, including A/B tests, to evaluate product improvements and support data-informed decision making.
• Build and maintain data science workflows covering data preparation, feature engineering, model development, evaluation, and monitoring.
• Apply appropriate statistical and machine learning techniques to forecasting, classification, recommendation, segmentation, and other analytical use cases.
• Communicate analytical findings and model outcomes clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Continuously evaluate and improve existing models, methodologies, and analytical processes to enhance accuracy, scalability, and business impact.
• Contribute to data science best practices, coding standards, documentation, and reproducible analytical workflows across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
• 3+ years of professional experience in data science, machine learning, advanced analytics, or a related role.
• Strong proficiency in Python and experience with commonly used data science libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, and/or similar frameworks.
• Solid understanding of statistics, probability, machine learning algorithms, model evaluation, and experimental design.
• Hands‑on experience with SQL and working with large, complex datasets in relational or analytical data environments.
• Experience with end-to-end machine learning workflows, from data preparation and feature engineering through model development, validation, and deployment.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools and the ability to present complex analytical findings in a clear and actionable manner.
• Experience working with cloud platforms, distributed data processing, or modern data/ML platforms is a plus.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment and translate business questions into practical data-driven solutions.
