Job summary

Burgan Bank Türkiye seeks a Data Governance Executive who bridges business strategy with granular data details to ensure cross-domain data integrity and compliant data use.

You will develop and maintain the business glossary, maintain the data catalog with metadata, and drive data quality from root cause to remediation with owners, stewards and IT.

The role requires collaboration across banking domains and strong documentation, reporting, and prudent AI governance to safeguard sensitive data.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• 5+ years in a data management role within banking sector.
• Knowledge of banking products, processes and data models.
• Ability to map cross-domain relationships with deep data analysis.
• Experience with data catalogs, lineage, data quality, privacy and classification.

Job description

We are looking for a Data Governance Executive who can bridge the gap between high-level business strategy and granular data details, driving cross-domain data integrity and sustainable compliance across our data ecosystem.

Job Responsibilities :

• Develop and maintain the business glossary by aligning business terms with data owners and stewards, ensuring consistency and mapping them directly to underlying data assets
• Keep the data catalog accurate and growing through clear metadata documentation, enabling data discovery and self-service understanding for business users
• Drive data quality issue resolution from root-cause analysis to coordinating remediation with owners, stewards, and IT teams while reporting on overall health metrics
• Partner closely with data owners and stewards across domains to provide guidance, facilitate alignment, gather data requirements and track agreed actions
• Apply data governance policies, ownership models and data classification standards in daily business and technical workflows
• Produce clear, impact-driven reports on glossary coverage, data quality trends, governance progress and maturity for key stakeholders
• Identify and execute continuous improvements for data governance tools, frameworks, and methodologies, translating lessons learned into scalable best practices
• Exercise high discretion when using AI tools in daily operations, ensuring clear judgment regarding data inputs to prevent unauthorized sharing of sensitive data assets

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Information Management or a relevant field
• 5+ years of professional experience in a data management role within banking sector
• Good understanding of banking products, processes and business data model within bank data domains (e.g., customer, accounts, loans, risk, finance, digital services)
• Demonstrated ability to operate strategically at a high level, mapping cross-domain relationships while possessing the technical depth to dive into granular data profiles, metadata specifications and lineage details when required
• Proven track record in executing data governance initiatives, with hands‑on expertise in developing data catalogs, mapping data lineage, implementing robust data quality, privacy and classification frameworks
• Hands‑on experience with metadata management or data governance platforms (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, OpenMetadata, DataHub)
• Proven ability to create and maintain clear technical documentation; you translate complex frameworks, standards and operating procedures into structured, actionable materials, accessible to the whole organization
• Strong facilitation skills; you build trusted working relationships with busy stakeholders, follow up until actions are closed, and stay constructive when you need to elevate
• Solid grounding in data governance frameworks and end-to-end data lifecycle management, with a proactive understanding of compliance strategies and data privacy regulations such as KVKK and GDPR
• Exceptional communication skills; you have the ability to translate complex technical topics and data policies into business-friendly language
• Structured, proactive and detail-oriented mindset with a genuine willingness to learn
• Curiosity about emerging AI governance practices; awareness of how AI/ML models use data, including training data, features, bias and data drift, and why data quality matters for model outcomes
