Job summary

OREDATA is seeking a Senior Data Architect to lead assessment and modernization of client data environments and shape the enterprise data platform road-map. You will own end-to-end architecture, guiding Data Warehouse modernization, cloud migration, and data governance initiatives.

Travel to Istanbul as required; strong English communication and collaboration with BI, ETL/Data Engineering teams are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional experience in Data Architecture, Data Warehousing, and Data Engineering with architecture-level responsibilities.
• Strong experience with enterprise Data Warehouse architectures and complex data environments.
• Strong knowledge of MsSQL and SSIS environments (current environment is SSIS/SQL Server-based).
• Experience assessing existing ETL processes, data flows, and Data Warehouse architectures.
• Knowledge of Data Warehouse, Data Lake, and Data Lakehouse concepts and architectural patterns.
• Experience in Data Governance including data quality, metadata management, data lineage, and data ownership.
• Based in Istanbul or able to work regularly from Istanbul for on-site client visits.

• Identify issues, bottlenecks, dependencies, and modernization opportunities.

• Evaluate cloud technologies and approaches with experience in GCP, Azure, or AWS.
• Lead Data Governance foundations including data quality and metadata management.
• Collaborate with BI, ETL/Data Engineering teams and stakeholders.
• Provide architectural guidance to teams and ensure scalable, secure solutions.
• Take end-to-end ownership of the transformation journey; drive progress.

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Data Architect to lead the assessment and modernization of our client's existing data environment and help shape the future architecture of their enterprise data platform. (Cargo Industry)

The current environment includes a complex Data Warehouse ecosystem, MsSQL and SSIS-based ETL processes, multiple reporting environments, and legacy systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for understanding the existing architecture, identifying improvement opportunities, and defining the roadmap toward a modernized data platform.

This role requires someone who can combine strong Data Warehouse and data architecture fundamentals with modern cloud data platform knowledge, and who is comfortable taking end-to-end architectural ownership and driving the transformation journey proactively from start to finish.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and assess the existing Data Warehouse architecture, data models, MsSQL environment, SSIS-based ETL processes, and data flows
• Identify architectural issues, ETL performance bottlenecks, technical dependencies, and modernization opportunities
• Define the target architecture and transformation roadmap from the existing Data Warehouse environment toward a modernized data platform
• Lead the architectural design of the future enterprise data platform
• Redesign and optimize existing data models and structures in line with industry best practices
• Define architectural principles, standards, patterns, and guidelines for the new data platform
• Evaluate appropriate cloud technologies and architectural approaches based on business and technical requirements, with experience in at least one of GCP, Azure, or AWS
• Lead the architectural foundation of Data Governance initiatives. Help establish standards and practices for data quality, data ownership, metadata management, data lineage, security, and access
• Communicate and collaborate with different teams on both technical and business matters, working closely with Business Intelligence, ETL/Data Engineering teams, and relevant stakeholders
• Provide architectural and technical guidance to teams throughout the transformation
• Ensure architectural decisions support scalability, performance, security, maintainability, and long-term sustainability
• Take end-to-end ownership of the transformation journey, proactively driving progress and decision-making rather than waiting for direction
• Travel to the client's Istanbul location when required by the project

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional experience in Data Architecture, Data Warehousing, and Data Engineering, including significant architecture-level responsibilities
• Strong experience with enterprise Data Warehouse architectures and complex data environments
• Strong knowledge of MsSQL and SSIS environments, as the current environment is SSIS/SQL Server-based
• Proven experience assessing existing ETL processes, data flows, and Data Warehouse architectures
• Strong understanding of Data Warehouse, Data Lake, and Data Lakehouse concepts and architectural patterns.
• Proven experience in data modeling and redesigning existing data structures
• Proven experience in Data Warehouse modernization, cloud migration, or enterprise data platform transformation projects
• Knowledge of modern cloud-based data platforms and architecture principles (experience with at least one of GCP, Azure, or AWS)
• Ability to assess legacy data environments and translate findings into a practical target architecture and transformation roadmap.
• Experience with or strong knowledge of Data Governance, including data quality, metadata management, data lineage, and data ownership
• Strong ability to communicate and collaborate with different teams on both technical and business matters
• Based in Istanbul or able to work regularly from Istanbul, as the role may require on-site customer visits and face-to-face meetings
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, stakeholder management, and architectural decision-making skills
• Proactive and self-driven, with the ability to take ownership and provide technical direction
• Strong English communication skills (professional working proficiency), both written and verbal
