Job summary

World Business Lenders is seeking an entry-level Cloud Engineer to support deployment, operation, and maintenance of cloud infrastructure. You’ll work under the Infrastructure & Security Manager, with emphasis on Azure and DevOps / IaC practices.

This fully remote, multinational team operates across time zones, with a schedule aligned to Eastern Time. Responsibilities include provisioning resources, monitoring systems, backups, security patching, and automation using scripts and templates.

Qualifications

• Strong English communication, written and spoken.
• Foundational knowledge of cloud computing, networking, DNS, IAM, and Windows/Linux administration.
• Practical exposure to cloud platforms through coursework or internships; prior work not required.
• Basic scripting in PowerShell or Python and ability to follow change procedures.
• Relevant education or technical training; ability to handle confidential information.

Responsibilities

• Provision and maintain cloud resources using approved configurations and change procedures.
• Support virtual machines, storage, networking, identity permissions, and services that host applications.
• Monitor availability, performance, and resource usage; troubleshoot issues and escalations.
• Maintain backups and assist with restore testing and disaster recovery exercises.
• Apply approved patches and security settings; collaborate with Cybersecurity to address vulnerabilities.
• Use scripts and infrastructure templates to automate tasks; document and test changes before deployment.
• Track cloud spending and identify unused or oversized resources; propose cost improvements.
• Maintain infrastructure records and operating procedures; coordinate deployments with Dev and Help Desk.

Overview

• World Business Lenders (WBL) is a privately held portfolio lender specializing in real estate-secured business loans for underserved businesses. WBL operates with a fully remote, multinational workforce and an experienced executive leadership team.
• Typically, the work schedule is from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM Eastern Time, Monday through Friday, though additional hours may be required based on business needs.

About the Role

• The Cloud Engineer supports the deployment, operation, and maintenance of WBL cloud infrastructure. This entry-level role helps keep environments reliable, secure, and cost-effective under the direction of the Infrastructure & Security Manager. Microsoft Azure and DevOps / Infrastructure-as-Code experience are strongly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Provision and maintain cloud resources using approved configurations and change procedures.
• Support virtual machines, storage, networking, identity permissions, and services that host WBL applications.
• Monitor availability, performance, and resource usage; troubleshoot issues and escalated service disruptions.
• Maintain backups and assist with restore testing and disaster recovery exercises.
• Apply approved patches and security settings; work with Cybersecurity to address vulnerabilities and access issues.
• Use scripts and infrastructure templates to automate repeatable tasks; document and test changes before deployment.
• Track cloud spending, identify unused or oversized resources, and recommend cost improvements.
• Maintain infrastructure records and operating procedures; coordinate deployments and support with development and Help Desk teams.

Required Qualifications

• Strong spoken and written English, including the ability to explain technical issues clearly and write accurate documentation.
• Foundational knowledge of cloud computing, networking, DNS, identity and access management, and Windows or Linux administration.
• Practical exposure to a cloud platform through coursework, labs, personal projects, internships, or employment; prior professional experience is not required.
• Basic scripting skills in PowerShell, Python, or a similar language; ability to troubleshoot systematically and follow change procedures.
• Relevant education, technical training, or equivalent demonstrated skills; careful handling of confidential information.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on Microsoft Azure exposure, including virtual machines, containers, virtual networks, storage, Azure Monitor, and Microsoft Entra ID.
• Familiarity with Bicep or Terraform, Git, and automated deployment workflows.
• Azure certifications or related training; exposure to application hosting, containers, or cloud cost management.

Remote Work Requirements

• Available during U.S. Eastern business hours. Reliable internet connection, a dedicated workspace, and the ability to work independently and communicate consistently with a distributed team.

• Timely resolution and escalation of assigned issues; reliable deployments and successful restore tests; accurate documentation; completion of security and cost improvement tasks.
