Job summary

METRO Türkiye is seeking a Bakery & Delicatessen Category Specialist (Project Based) to lead supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, and manage ordering, demand communications and back-order follow-ups. You will conduct market research, decide assortments, and produce monthly performance reports.

Collaborating with Sales, Finance, Marketing and Logistics, you will align category strategy with customer needs and trends, contributing to METRO's gastronomy ecosystem and growth goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
• Excellent English (written and spoken).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for customer relationships.
• Excellent attention to detail in a high-volume, multi-tasking environment.
• Ability to manage cross-functional relationships and collaborate in a team environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.
• Passion for gastronomy and food.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day supplier relationships through contracting, ordering, demand communication, volume changes, issue resolution and back-order follow-up.
• Conduct regular market research on supplier, product and competitor trends.
• Decide product assortment in line with trends and customer expectations.
• Prepare monthly reports on category operations to review sales performance and actions.
• Provide content for Metro’s marketing campaigns to reach over 1 million households.
• Coordinate between category and stores; work with Sales, Finance, Marketing and Logistics to hit category targets.

Through a customer oriented approach, leading day-to-day business relationship with the key suppliers through supporting activities including contracting, ordering, communication of demand, volume, delivery time changes, issue resolution, follow up back orders.

• Conducting market research on regular basis to analyze latest supplier, product and competitor trends.
• Deciding product assortment in line with trends and customer expectations.
• Preparing monthly reports about category operations to review sales performance analysis and take necessary actions.
• Providing content for Metro’s marketing campaign tools to reach out over 1 million households.
• Providing communication and coordination between the category and the stores.
• Working collaboratively with Sales Department, Finance, Marketing, Logistics in order to reach category targets.

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
• Excellent command of written and spoken English
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for a sustainable and powerful relationship with customers
• Strong attention to detail in a high-volume environment that requires extensive multi-tasking and multiple deadlines
• Ability to manage cross-functional relationships and collaborate in a creative, team-oriented environment
• Candidate must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, work well under pressure and prioritize multiple projects
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
• Being food lover and interested in Gastronomy
• Having passion for a fruitful journey
