Job summary

Lever, Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer: Backend in Turkey to build scalable APIs and backend services for AI-driven business communication products. This hands-on role focuses on ownership across the full development lifecycle.

You'll work in a globally distributed, asynchronous team, design high-quality web APIs, and participate in a two-week paid work trial before a potential full-time offer. Compensation ranges from $60,000 to $80,000 annually.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of web API architecture.
• Experience owning backend projects from concept to production.
• Excellent written communication in an asynchronous environment.
• Ability to work independently and seek input when needed.
• Interest in end-to-end product development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop highly scalable, intuitive APIs for new products and services.
• Lead backend initiatives from research through deployment and evaluation.
• Create Engineering Requirement Documents translating ideas into technical plans.
• Build automated test suites to ensure quality and reliability.
• Implement product analytics and monitoring for feature effectiveness.
• Contribute to high-scale backend systems including APIs and messaging.
• Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders in a predominantly asynchronous setup.
• Investigate challenges and communicate designs and trade-offs clearly.
• Participate in a two-week paid work trial with a defined backend project.
