Job summary

Semper Technology seeks an AI/ML Engineer to contribute to software-driven R&D projects in a dynamic international setting. You will work on end-to-end AI solutions from model development to deployment, with emphasis on security-focused LLMs and tool integrations.

The role requires strong Python, ML framework experience, and hands-on work with LoRA/QLoRA fine-tuning, on-prem LLM hosting, and Agile processes. On-site presence at Teknopark Istanbul is expected.

Qualifications

• Graduated from Computer Engineering or related fields of well reputed universities.
• At least 2 years of experience in AI, ML, or related engineering fields.
• Strong programming skills in Python and experience with AI/ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Scikit-learn.
• Solid understanding of Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and modern AI development approaches.
• Experience in developing, training, evaluating, and deploying AI/ML models.
• Hands-on experience fine-tuning open-weight LLMs with LoRA/QLoRA and training data prep.
• Experience serving open-weight LLMs on-premise with quantization and GPU memory optimization.
• Experience building LLM-based agents with tool calling.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to SDLC/PDLC and AI-driven R&D projects from initiation to successful delivery.
• Design, develop, train, evaluate, and optimize AI/ML models and solutions.
• Fine-tune, quantize, and deploy locally hosted LLMs, and improve tool-calling capabilities.
• Develop autonomous AI agents and tool integrations for security operations.
• Design and run reproducible evaluation experiments and report results in project reports and publications.
• Develop and integrate AI-based applications into existing software systems.
• Research and evaluate emerging AI technologies for application opportunities.

Semper Technology is an R&D center affiliated with the Distributed Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (DAI-Labor) at the Technical University of Berlin. It collaborates with public institutions and private companies on national and international projects focused on cybersecurity, data analytics, embedded and intelligent systems, and future communication networks. It continues to develop its well-known products such as Alim, Bilgin, and Brain4X.

Semper Technology is seeking candidates with the following skills to be employed at Teknopark Istanbul (Kurtköy).

Position

We are looking for a highly motivated AI/ML Engineer to contribute to software-driven R&D projects in a dynamic and international environment. The ideal candidate will combine strong AI and Machine Learning capabilities with a solid understanding of software development processes and contribute to the end-to-end development and delivery of AI-based solutions.

Required Qualifications

• Graduated from Computer Engineering or related fields of well reputed universities
• At least 2 years of experience in AI, Machine Learning, or related engineering fields
• Strong programming skills in Python and experience with AI/ML frameworks such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Scikit-learn
• Solid understanding of Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and modern AI development approaches
• Experience in developing, training, evaluating, and deploying AI/ML models
• Hands-on experience fine-tuning open-weight LLMs with LoRA/QLoRA (e.g., Hugging Face Transformers, PEFT, Unsloth, or Axolotl), including training data preparation and synthetic data generation
• Experience serving open-weight LLMs on-premise (e.g., vLLM, TGI, or SGLang), including quantization (AWQ/GPTQ) and GPU memory and latency optimization
• Experience building LLM-based agents with tool/function calling (e.g., ReAct-style loops, multi-step reasoning, context management)
• Strong knowledge of modern software development approaches, including Agile software development methods and related tools
• Experience in SDLC/PDLC and working in Scrum or similar Agile frameworks
• Familiarity with Git, REST APIs, Docker, and software integration practices
• Passion for future technologies and emerging trends
• A highly motivated team player with strong verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in English (German is a plus)
• Willingness to work on-site at Teknopark Istanbul, Kurtköy

Additional Preferred Experience

Experience in one or more of the following domains is highly preferred:

• Model Context Protocol (MCP) server development or agent-to-agent protocols (e.g., A2A, JSON-RPC)
• Multi-agent systems and orchestration frameworks
• LLM security, including prompt injection defenses and hallucination mitigation
• Experience with Kubernetes, GPU workloads, or MLOps tools
• Familiarity with continuous development, continuous integration, and modern software delivery practices
• MSc or PhD in AI, Machine Learning, or Cybersecurity, and a track record of scientific publications
• Experience in R&D projects involving public institutions and private sector stakeholders (e.g., TÜBİTAK, EU Horizon)
