Job summary

The Salvation Army Gracehaven Children's Home in Singapore is seeking a Youth Work Associate (Night) to join the care team. You will engage residents in holistic activities, provide guidance and supervision during the night shift, and act as a positive role model to help children and youths cope with trauma and rebuild resilience.

You will collaborate with social workers, plan group activities, monitor progress, and ensure safety by following home policies.

Qualifications

• At least a diploma, preferably in Youth Work, Social Services, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Nursing, Events Management, Community Development, Outdoor and Adventure Learning.
• Enrolled Nurse, Student Care Teachers or any other relevant experiences working with children and youth are welcome to apply.

Responsibilities

• Mentor and guide residents to abide by the Home's guidelines and develop their moral character.
• Provide feedback to social workers and managers on residents' progress and needs with proper reporting.
• Plan and facilitate group activities including life skills, conflict resolution, and resilience building.
• Ensure safety by adhering to policies to prevent abuse of residents.
• Support residents through trauma experiences with a multidisciplinary team.

The Salvation Army, Children and Youth Group - Gracehaven is a residential home for children and youths who require care, protection and rehabilitation due to risk behaviours and a lack of parental supervision.

We aim to help children and youths reintegrate back into their family and society through an array of holistic programmes and activities specially designed to cater to the well being of each individual person. At Gracehaven, a team of professionally trained social workers work towards building holistic and individualized care plans that are tailored to meet each person's needs.

RESPONSIBILITIES

About the Job

The Youth Work Associate (Night) is part of a care team and is responsible for engaging residents in holistic and meaningful activities, providing residents with direction, guidance and supervision in daily activities and acting as a positive role model.

Key Responsibilities

• Mentor and guide the residents to abide the Home's guidelines, and develop their strength of moral character and civic duty.
• Feedback to the social workers, assistant manager and manager on the residents' progress and needs through proper recording in communication logs, residents information book and other reports.
• Plan and facilitate group activities, including but not limited to program adjustment and adapting to life in the Home, life skills, conflict resolution, and teaching of life skills to residents.
• Responsible for preventing abuse of residents by adhering to all policies and procedures.
• Journey and guide children and young persons going through trauma experiences and supporting them by building up resilience together with multi-disciplinary team.

QUALIFICATIONS

At least a diploma, preferably in Youth Work, Social Services, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Nursing, Events Management, Community Development, Outdoor and Adventure Learning (Enrolled Nurse, Student Care Teachers or any other relevant experiences working with children and youth are welcome to apply)

Working Hours

Under normal circumstances the hours of duty will be as follows:

Night Shift : 10 pm - 7am

A work schedule will be planned by the Manager for shifts
