Job summary

SPECON CONTRACTOR PTE. LTD. is seeking a seasoned EHS Coordinator to implement the SHMS at the site and drive safety practices across daily operations.

You will lead risk assessments, coordinate the EHS team, conduct trainings, and participate in safety meetings with clients and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with OHS standards and ISO 45001/14001 where applicable. Qualifications

• Specialist Diploma in Workplace Safety & Health, Risk Management Level 2 and First Aid certified.
• Formation and hands-on training in safety management practices.
• Ability to apply safety standards in construction environments.

Responsibilities

• Implement and monitor the organization's SHMS at site.
• Plan and manage EHS promotional activities on site to foster safe practices.
• Provide EHS recommendations to ensure legal compliance.
• Coach site workforce on EHS matters.
• Coordinate team tasks and supervise EHS activities.
• Lead the risk assessment team at site.
• Participate in corporate RM as risk management member.
• Brief project team on safety program execution status.
• Conduct safety orientations and toolbox talks.
• Chair monthly EHS committee meetings with Specon and subcontractors.
• Review safety measures and propose improvements for upcoming works.
• Recommend Stop Work Order when unsafe conditions arise.
• Attend client/consultant safety meetings and coordination/technical meetings.
• Lead investigations and maintain records for first aid, accidents and near misses.
• Conduct emergency drills periodically.
• Inspect site facilities and equipment for environmental health safety.
• Identify environmental health irregularities and suggest corrective actions.
• Undertake corporate WSH responsibilities; ISO 45001 familiarity.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job description

• Understand and effectively implement the organization’s SHMS at site
• Plan, organize and manage EHS promotional activities within the site to cultivate good EHS practices;
• Provide reasonably practicable and effective EHS recommendations to team members to ensure compliance to legal and other requirements;
• Motivate, coach and counsel on EHS matter to site workforce on an on-going basis with particular regard for recalcitrant personnel;
• Co-ordinate the work of team members, allocate tasks and provide effective supervision;
• Lead the risk assessment team at site;
• Participate as a risk management team member in the corporate RM organization;
• Brief project manager/ project team periodically on the execution status of the overall safety program;
• Carry out safety orientations and to conduct daily safety toolbox meeting (if required);
• Conduct monthly EHS Committee meeting with Specon Contractor and Subcontractors;
• Review existing safety measures and recommend safety measures for upcoming works during the safety committee meeting;
• Recommend Stop Work Order to Project Manager when unsafe conditions arise including to promptly correcting any unsafe conditions or safe work practice;
• Attend client/consultant safety meeting/ weekly coordination & technical meeting;
• Lead investigation and maintain records for every first aid case, accident and near miss at the work site;
• Conduct emergency drills periodically
• Inspect site to ensure all facilities and equipment relevant to the maintenance of environmental health are in proper working condition and do not pose any environmental health hazard;
• Identify and discuss environmental health irregularities such as mosquito and fly breeding, rodent infestation, noise / dust / smoke / water pollution, poor housekeeping, earth littering, poor refuse management, poor maintenance of sanitary facilities, etc. and recommend measures to rectify such irregularities;
• undertake corporate WSH responsibilities if necessary well versed in ISO45001
• Any other duties as may be assigned

Job Requirements:

• Candidate must possess Specialist Diploma in Workplace Safety & Health, Risk Management Level 2 and First Aid certified.
• 5 years practicing as a WSH Coordinator
• 1 year post registration of Workplace Safety and Health Officers with the Ministry of Manpower
• Responsible and with good attitude personnel.
• Willing to work under minimum supervision
• Well verse in MS Words and in MS Excel
• Experience in Civil / A&A construction projects
• OHSAS 18001 or ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 internal auditor certificate
