Role Description

The Winch Design Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Singapore. This position is responsible for designing marine winch systems, including conceptual design, detailed engineering, and preparation of technical drawings and specifications in line with international standards and company procedures. The specialist collaborates closely with mechanical, electrical, and production teams to ensure designs are manufacturable, safe, and optimized for performance, reliability, and cost. Daily tasks include conducting technical calculations, selecting components, reviewing customer and project requirements, preparing documentation for certification and quality assurance, and supporting system testing and commissioning. The role also involves providing technical support during manufacturing, troubleshooting design-related issues, and contributing to continuous improvement and innovation in winch and deck equipment solutions.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical design skills related to marine winch systems, including conceptual design, detailed engineering, and preparation of 2D/3D CAD drawings.
• Proficiency in engineering analysis, such as strength and load calculations, drive selection, and application of relevant marine and industrial standards.
• Experience in product development and lifecycle management, including documentation, configuration control, and design validation/testing support.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams in manufacturing, quality, and project management to ensure designs meet operational and safety requirements.
• Knowledge of marine equipment, deck machinery, and offshore systems, preferably with exposure to class society rules and certification processes.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline; professional engineering registration is an advantage.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills, with the ability to interpret technical specifications and client requirements.
• Experience working within formal quality management frameworks (e.g., ISO 9001, API Q1) and adherence to workplace safety practices.
