Job summary

Training and Managed Services in Singapore seeks an experienced Weapons Trainer to conduct and supervise weapon training in accordance with approved plans and SAF directives, ensuring high instructional standards.

The role enforces safety, operates in designated command roles when qualified, and plans manpower, facilities, and logistics to support training delivery with KPI monitoring and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct weapons training in accordance with approved lesson plans, training directives and SAF requirements.
  • Demonstrate weapon handling, drills and procedures; supervise practical training; assess trainee competency; conduct After Action Reviews (AARs).
  • Enforce weapons and training safety requirements. Perform appointed roles such as CSO, RSM, Conducting Officer or Supervising Officer where qualified.
  • Plan, coordinate and manage training programmes and activities. Develop manpower and trainer deployment plans, allocate instructional duties, coordinate facilities, equipment and logistics, monitor course KPIs, and ensure timely completion of reports and administrative requirements.
  • Lead and supervise assigned Weapons Trainers. Allocate work, provide day-to-day direction, coach and mentor junior trainers, monitor performance and competency, identify development needs, provide performance feedback, and support the development of trainers towards higher appointments and responsibilities.
  • Maintain training standards and weapon-system knowledge. Engage SAF Course Commanders, SMEs and internal stakeholders, manage training-related issues, capture lessons learnt, recommend improvements, ensure updates to doctrine and training materials are disseminated, and support management in improving operational effectiveness
  • Manpower Management: Plan trainer deployment, duty allocation and utilisation to meet operational requirements.
  • Staff Supervision: Lead a team of trainers and ensure assigned duties are performed safely, professionally and effectively.
  • Performance Management: Monitor individual performance, conduct coaching and provide inputs for appraisal, confirmation and development.
  • Competency Development: Identify competency gaps and develop trainers through OJT, coaching, cross-training and progressive appointments.
  • Standards & Discipline: Maintain professional, instructional, safety and workplace standards within the team.
  • Resource Management: Ensure effective utilisation and accountability of training equipment, stores, facilities and other resources.
  • Operational Planning: Anticipate manpower and resource constraints, resolve operational issues and elevate significant risks to management.
  • KPI Management: Monitor training delivery, customer requirements, course performance and other relevant operational KPIs.
  • Stakeholder Management: Serve as a key interface with SAF Course Commanders, weapon SMEs and relevant internal departments.
  • Continuous Improvement: Analyse AAR findings, incidents, feedback and operational data and implement appropriate improvements.
  • Management Reporting: Provide timely updates on manpower, training delivery, performance, safety, risks and outstanding issues.
  • Leadership: Build teamwork, accountability and ownership among trainers and develop potential successors for key appointment
