Job summary

NTU Energy Research Institute (ERI@N) seeks an Engineer to lead the scale-up of vanadium redox flow battery stacks from lab and pilot scale to commercial systems, ensuring performance, reliability, and manufacturability.

The role bridges R&D, testing, and production to enable smooth transition into large-scale deployment, working with manufacturing and supply chain to deliver cost-effective, production-ready solutions. Requires 5+ years in stack development and DFM knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s/Master’s/PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 5+ years hands-on experience in electrochemical stack development.
• Experience with VRFB stacks, fuel cells, or similar systems.
• Experience with manufacturing, testing, and process development of stacks.
• Experience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM), BOM/drawing updates, and change implementation.

Responsibilities

• Lead scale-up of VRFB stacks from prototype to commercial scale while ensuring performance and reliability.
• Develop, assemble, and validate stack designs through structured testing, durability studies, and failure analysis.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and supply chain to ensure production-readiness and cost-effectiveness.
• Establish test rigs, SOPs, and quality benchmarks, and use performance data to drive continuous design improvement.
