Job summary

VFlowTech PTE. LTD. is seeking a Project Executive (Technical) to provide engineering expertise for energy storage systems, including battery storage and microgrids.

The role collaborates with the Business Development team to craft technical proposals and ensure successful deployments. You will design SLDs, electrical layouts, and support documents, participate in cost estimations, and supervise design alignment with NEC/IEEE/IEC standards across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering required.
• 3–5 years of experience in electrical engineering, energy storage, renewables and power systems.
• Proficiency with electrical design software and interconnection standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop tailored technical solutions with the BD team to meet customer requirements.

Job description

The Project Executive (Technical) will be responsible for providing technical expertise in the design, integration, and deployment of energy storage systems, including battery storage, microgrids, and related infrastructure. This role requires close collaboration with the Business Development team to develop technical proposals to ensure successful execution of deployments.

Technical Business Development Support

• Partner with the BD team to evaluate customer requirements and propose tailored technical solutions.
• Develop single-line diagrams (SLDs), electrical system layouts, and preliminary designs to support proposals.
• Provide technical presentations and documentation to communicate system designs and capabilities to clients.
• Assist in preparing cost estimates, technical specifications, and RFP responses.

Project Engineering, Design and Execution

• Support electrical design and engineering efforts for energy storage systems, microgrids and renewable energy deployment projects.
• Develop detailed engineering documentation, including SLDs (incl MV and HV), cable schedules, and protection & control schemes.
• Design electrical single-line diagrams (SLDs), BESS unit, layout of BESS unit.
• Draft and evaluate technical specifications of the power and control equipment
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to integrate electrical systems with civil, mechanical, and structural designs.
• Oversee technical aspects of project implementation, including grid interconnections, system testing, and commissioning.
• Provide technical support during procurement and construction phases, ensuring alignment with design specifications.
• Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and safety regulations (e.g., NEC, IEEE, UL, IEC).

Technical Oversight & Coordination

• Conduct site assessments to identify electrical design requirements and project constraints.
• Review and approve designs from external consultants and contractors.
• Support procurement efforts by evaluating vendor products and ensuring compatibility with project specifications.
• Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and troubleshooting phases.

Project Costing, Budget and Commercial Oversight

• Maintain oversight of project costings, including approved project budgets, committed costs, actual costs, forecast costs, and cost-to-complete estimates.
• Track project expenditure against the approved budget and highlight cost overruns, savings opportunities, and budget risks to the Project Manager or Management.
• Review vendor quotations, subcontractor proposals, and procurement submissions to ensure technical compliance and cost reasonableness.
• Support cost comparison exercises for major equipment, subcontract packages, logistics, installation works, testing, and commissioning activities.
• Work with Procurement and Finance to ensure that purchase requests, purchase orders, invoices, and payment milestones are aligned with project scope, contract terms, and budget allocation.
• Monitor and document variation orders, change requests, additional works, and scope deviations that may have cost, schedule, or contractual impact.
• Prepare periodic project cost reports, including budget status, committed costs, forecast final cost, pending claims, and key cost risks.
• Support margin protection by ensuring that technical decisions, procurement choices, and project execution plans remain aligned with approved project cost assumptions.
• Escalate any material cost deviation, unbudgeted scope, or commercial exposure early to the Project Manager and Management.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
• 3 to 5 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on energy storage, renewables, and power systems.
• Strong knowledge of energy storage systems, including battery technologies, PCS/inverters, renewables, and grid control.
• Experience with project workflows, including planning, execution, and stakeholder engagement.
• Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, ETAP, PSCAD, or similar tools).
• Familiarity with interconnection standards (e.g., IEEE 1547), Requirements for Electrical Installations (eg. BS 7671:2018) and grid compliance requirements.
• Experience with project management tools and methodologies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and with clients.
• Candidate will be required to travel to various location, depending on business needs.
