Job summary

United Overseas Bank Ltd in Singapore seeks a seasoned Infrastructure Engineer to design, implement, and support a resilient IT platform. You will manage Windows Server, Linux, VMware, and container technologies such as OpenShift and Kubernetes across on‑prem and cloud environments.

Responsibilities include automation with Terraform, Chef, and Ansible; DR planning; security/compliance; and vendor coordination. A degree in CS and 5+ years' experience are required for this role in Singapore.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of server/system administration experience with troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
• Experience building, configuring and deploying infrastructure (on-prem, private/public cloud).
• Proficient with Terraform, Chef and Ansible for IaC and automation.
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server, RHEL/Unix, VMware, OpenShift and Kubernetes.
• Hands-on with cloud providers: AWS, Azure and GCP; ability to integrate with third-party platforms.

Responsibilities

• Build and support a highly available, secure, and recoverable IT infrastructure and platform.
• Implement infrastructure as code, maintain patching, backups, and DR readiness.
• Monitor performance, enforce security/compliance, and coordinate with vendors.
• Support architects, service build, change management and service recovery teams.
• Participate in audits and evaluate tech refresh and EOS/EOL plans.

Job Description

Build and support a highly available, reliable, secure and recoverable IT infrastructure and platform that complies to the Bank's and regulatory requirements, including:

• Windows Server, VMware products and third party software installation, upgrades and maintenance.
• Installation of hardware and software.
• Implement and review hardening of servers and systems to Bank's standards.
• Maintenance and setup of file systems.
• Resolve software problems with operating systems or third party products
• Maintenance of Anti-Malware/Virus System.
• File System and Database Backups/restores.
• Setup guidelines, process to enhanced current work activity.
• Performance Monitoring.
• Maintain system security and compliance.
• Configuration management.
• Implement DR plan and participate in DR exercise.
• Supports the Solution Architects, Service Build, Change & Control Management and Service Recovery teams in design, build, configuration, testing and deployment.
• Establish and implement Infrastructure as Code, tools and processes.
• Track and implement infrastructure EOS/EOL plan, upgrades, tech refresh and patching.
• Investigate infrastructure related incidents and remediation actions.
• Participate in internal and external audit activities.
• Liaise with external vendors to accomplish infrastructure design, development, and operations goals.

Job Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science related field preferred
• Minimum 5 years' experience in server/ system administration, troubleshooting issues and root cause analysis
• At least 5 years' experience with engineering, building, configuring and deployment of infrastructure solutions (on-premises, private cloud and public cloud) including:
• Infrastructure as Code such as Terraform, Chef and Ansible;
• Operating Systems such as Windows Server, RedHat Enterprise Linux and Unix;
• SAN storage and backup;
• VMware;
• Containers such as OpenShift and Kubernetes; and
• Cloud such as AWS, Azure and GCP.

• Experience in integrating with 3rd party service platforms.
