Job summary

The Japan Research Institute, Limited (Singapore Branch) seeks a Vice President, Security Governance to lead cybersecurity governance, risk management, and compliance across APAC. This role drives audits, aligns controls with policies, and elevates security maturity across franchises.

Responsibilities include governance standards, audit support, training, and cross-functional collaboration with Cybersecurity, Risk Management, IT Operations, Legal, and Compliance teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, cybersecurity, or related field.
• Minimum 12 years of professional experience with focus on cyber risk management and information security governance.
• Deep expertise in risk management frameworks, IT governance, cybersecurity standards and compliance.
• Proven experience managing audits and regulatory compliance in technology and information security.
• Certifications such as CISSP, CISA, CRISC, CGEIT are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide cyber governance and controls support across SMBC branches, subsidiaries and franchise operations to ensure consistent application of standards.
• Collaborate with local franchise teams to assess security posture and align with corporate policies.
• Serve as a liaison between governance and franchise operations to address technology risk and compliance issues.
• Develop, maintain and enhance security governance standards, policies, procedures and guidelines.
• Monitor adherence to cybersecurity controls across business units.
• Partner with IT to assess, refine and standardize cyber risk and information security processes.
• Identify gaps and implement improvements to enhance security posture and risk management.
• Oversee cybersecurity audits, assurance activities and regulatory engagements.
• Coordinate audit responses and track remediation plans to closure.
• Develop and deliver security training programs to raise awareness of governance and controls.
