Job summary

Tardis Group seeks an experienced Vessel Manager to oversee the technical management of its fleet in Singapore. You will ensure safety, reliability, and cost efficiency while coordinating with crews, owners, class, and service providers.

You will manage maintenance, repairs, dry-docking, and major projects, supported by strong budgeting and vendor-management skills, to drive performance and compliance across the fleet.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or related maritime discipline.
  • Sailing experience as a Marine Engineer / Chief Engineer preferred.
  • Shore-based experience as Technical Superintendent, Vessel Manager, or Technical Manager advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of ISM, SOLAS, MARPOL and international maritime regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Take overall responsibility for the technical management and performance of assigned vessels.
  • Ensure vessels are maintained to a high standard of safety, reliability, efficiency and regulatory compliance.
  • Oversee planned maintenance, repairs, breakdowns, dry-docking, major projects and vessel upgrades.
  • Monitor vessel condition and ensure timely resolution of technical defects and deficiencies.
  • Manage and control the technical budget, operating expenditure (OPEX), and maintenance costs.
  • Coordinate with Masters, Chief Engineers, superintendents, shipyards, class societies, flag authorities, and contractors.
  • Plan and manage dry-docking, repairs, surveys, inspections, and major maintenance projects.
  • Ensure compliance with ISM, ISPS, MARPOL, SOLAS, class, flag-state, and other applicable maritime regulations.
  • Review technical reports, PMS records, condition reports, survey findings, and vessel performance data.
  • Support investigations into breakdowns, incidents, near misses, and machinery failures, ensuring effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Monitor vessel performance and identify opportunities for cost optimisation, fuel efficiency, reliability, and operational improvement.
  • Ensure critical spares, technical stores, and service requirements are properly planned and managed.

Job description

Requirements
  • Degree or diploma in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related maritime discipline.
  • Relevant sailing experience as a Marine Engineer / Chief Engineer is highly preferred.
  • Previous shore-based experience as a Technical Superintendent, Senior Technical Superintendent, Vessel Manager, or Technical Manager.
  • Strong knowledge of vessel maintenance, PMS, dry-docking, repairs, class requirements, and statutory regulations.
  • Good understanding of ISM, SOLAS, MARPOL, and international maritime regulations.
  • Strong project management, budgeting, and vendor-management capabilities.
