Job summary

Responsibilities

• Operate North-South and East-West line passenger trains to ensure a safe, secure and reliable commute for riders.
• Maintain and improve train service standards and reliability through sound operational decisions.
• Communicate effectively with the Operations Control Centre (OCC) and provide in-train public address announcements.
• Provide a professional image and excellent service to enhance the commuter experience.
• Adhere to SOPs and work instructions to ensure safe and efficient train service.
• Report safety or security threats to the OCC and assist in incident response and recovery.
• Assist commuters in distress during emergencies and participate in service recovery processes.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of work systems and processes.

Job Title:Train Captain, NSEWL

Role Responsibilities

• Train Captain plays an important role inoperating the SMRT North-South and East-West line passenger trains ensuring asafe, secure, reliable and efficient commute for commuters and to achieve theoverall train service standards.


• He/she must be well-versed with train operationsand the functions of the rail systems and equipment to make sound andoperational safe decision to maintain and improve train service standards andreliability.


• He/she must be able to communicate effectivelywith the Operations Control Centre (OCC) and make in-train public addressannouncement to provide operational and train information to commuters onboardtrain


• Provide professional image and excellent serviceto enhance commuters travel experience


• Operate passenger trains competently within-depth knowledge of train operations and technicalities that includeanalyzing of train faults systematically ensuring delays and incidents arisingin train service responded promptly and handled appropriately


• Adhere to organizational standard operatingprocedures (SOPs) and work instructions to provide safe, secure, reliable andefficient train service while operating a train


• Make effective radio communication withOperation Control Centre to report operational and situation updates


• Make in-train public address announcement toupdate operational and train information to commuters onboard trains


• Be vigilant and report to Operation ControlCentre of any safety and security threats and/or infringement within railwaypremises


• Perform emergencies response procedures andassist in rail service incident management recovery and incident investigationsin accordance with organization service recovery standard operatingprocedures


• Assist commuters in distress, or casualtiesduring an emergency


• Participate in the continuous improvement ofwork systems and processes
