Job summary

SMRT Trains Ltd is seeking an Assistant Engineer, Power Maintenance to join a team dedicated to operating, maintaining, and repairing equipment within the SMRT Power System. The role emphasizes adherence to Quality Objectives, safety standards, and timely fault resolution to ensure safe, reliable train service for commuters.

The ideal candidate will hold a Diploma in Electrical Engineering with 2–3 years of relevant maintenance experience.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
• 2–3 years of relevant experience in maintenance and troubleshooting of electrical equipment.
• Able to lead by example, communicate effectively and work as a team.
• Physically fit, able to climb stairs and ladders, and stand for sufficient duration (4 hours) for fault assessment or inspection.
• Lift tools and equipment of up to 5kg.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of technical officers to carry out and/or supervise preventive and corrective maintenance on SMRT power system equipment in compliance with procedures and safety requirements.
• Plan and execute maintenance schedule and staff rosters in consultation with EMM for effectiveness and efficiency.
• Provide technical advice, information and instructions to other staff and ensure all drawings, diagrams, manuals, and records are current.
• Assist EMM in conducting engineering and safety analyses, investigations, and tests.
• Carry out and/or assist EMM in supervision of corrective maintenance, upgrades/modifications/repairs and submit reports on completion of work.
• Ensure safety compliance at all times per Safety Procedures.
• Attend Permit-To-Work / Permit-To-Access for internal and external work parties.
• Perform rotating shift duties.
• Adhere to Quality objectives as stated in QP/WIs/Task lists in daily activities.
• Undertake any other incidental or ancillary tasks.

The Assistant Engineer, PowerMaintenance works in a team to operate, maintain and repair equipment installed in the SMRT Power System in compliance with the departmental Quality Objectives as stated in the QP/WIs/Task listsin accordance with quality and safety standards so as to support SMRT in providing safe and reliable train service to our commuters.

Responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities of an Assistant Engineer are as listed below. Note that the list is not comprehensive and related duties and responsibilities may be assigned from time to time.
