Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Derivative and Commodity Risk Oversight: assess and mitigate market exposures in OTC commodity swaps and options with scenario analysis and MTM principles.
• Transaction Risk Evaluation: evaluate complex trades, calculate Day 1 reserves and valuation adjustments, ensure accurate risk representation.
• Advanced Risk Strategy & Advisory: deliver market risk insights, mentor analysts, assess new opportunities and review hedging plans.
• Governance & Risk Infrastructure Enhancement: strengthen governance, reporting, and align with evolving regulatory standards.

What Role You Will Play On Our Team

Lead advanced risk initiatives and provide strategic insights into market risk exposures across trading and commercial portfolios associated with ExxonMobil's LNG, Gas, Power and Freight trading activities. This role requires deep expertise in quantitative risk methodologies, derivative instruments, and transaction evaluation, with a focus on enhancing risk transparency and control. Act as a trusted risk partner, proactively scrutinizing and pushing back on trading decisions that exceed acceptable risk thresholds or deviate from established risk parameters.

Job Role Responsibilities

• Derivative and Commodity Risk Oversight: Leverage deep understanding of risk management frameworks to assess and mitigate market exposures in OTC commodity swaps and options, integrating scenario analysis, stress testing, and valuation methodologies to support strategic decision-making and regulatory compliance
• Transaction Risk Evaluation: Evaluate complex commodity transactions by calculating Day 1 reserves and other valuation adjustments, ensuring accurate risk representation and alignment with accounting and regulatory standards. Manage both liquid and illiquid Curve Building and Validation supporting sound MTM principles. Provide independent oversight and proactively challenge trading decisions when risk exposures are unreasonable or misaligned with the company’s risk appetite
• Advanced Risk Strategy & Advisory: Deliver strategic market risk insights to support trading leadership in decision-making, while mentoring junior analysts and fostering analytical excellence across the risk organization. Independently assess new business opportunities by reviewing transaction terms, model assumptions, valuation methodologies, and expected results. Review plan for hedging and provide support to develop trading limits. Ensure that the proposed transaction and associated hedges can be properly valued and reported by the risk management system of record.
• Governance & Risk Infrastructure Enhancement: Strengthen market risk governance by enhancing control frameworks, refining risk reporting processes, and aligning infrastructure with evolving regulatory standards and business objectives

Skills and Qualifications

• Must have legal authorization to work in the Singapore on a full-time basis for any employer
• 5-10 (five to ten) years working experience in Market Risk in the following commodity trading areas: LNG (preferred), natural gas, power, freight, renewables and/or environmental products
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail with a keen focus on process execution
• Leadership skills, communication abilities, and presence in discussions with senior management
• Solid understanding of statistical analysis techniques and comfort in modelling complex issues involving risk and uncertainty
• Experience with the Microsoft suite of products: Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint
• Proficiency with R, Python, SQL, VBA, Tableau, and/or Power BI
