Job summary

Direct Search Global is seeking an Agricultural Commodities Trader to develop and manage physical trading activities across regional and international markets. Responsibilities

• Buy and sell physical agricultural commodities across assigned markets.
• Develop relationships with producers, exporters, importers, processors and end users.
• Identify new supply sources, customers and trading opportunities.
• Monitor crop production, weather, inventory levels, freight costs and market developments.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery conditions and contractual provisions.
• Manage trading positions, margins and exposure within approved risk limits.
• Use futures, options and other hedging instruments to manage price risk where applicable.
• Coordinate with operations, logistics, finance and risk teams to ensure smooth contract execution.
• Monitor shipment schedules, documentation, quality specifications and payment milestones.
• Resolve commercial and operational issues arising during contract performance.
• Conduct market analysis and provide trading recommendations to management.
• Maintain accurate records of positions, contracts, exposures and trading performance.
• Ensure all transactions comply with internal controls, sanctions and regulatory requirements.

The successful candidate will identify profitable opportunities, build relationships with suppliers and customers, and manage the commercial risks associated with commodity transactions.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Supply Chain or a related discipline.


• 3 to 7 years of experience trading agricultural commodities.


• Experience with products such as grains, oilseeds, animal feed, sugar or edible oils would be advantageous.


• Good understanding of physical commodity trading, logistics and contract execution.


• Knowledge of derivatives and commodity hedging would be beneficial.


• Existing relationships with suppliers, customers and market participants would be advantageous.


• Strong commercial judgement, numerical ability and negotiation skills.


• Able to make timely decisions in a fast-moving market.


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
