Job summary

OPTIMAS CAPITAL MANAGEMENT PTE. LTD. in Singapore is seeking an experienced trader to partner with Portfolio Managers and senior investment professionals.

You will execute across equities, derivatives, FX, and fixed income, and own execution strategies with strong market knowledge. You will provide market intelligence, monitor global markets, and collaborate with Operations, Compliance, and Risk to ensure accurate trade booking and controls.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8-10 years of relevant trading experience within asset management, hedge funds, investment banking, proprietary trading, or other financial institutions.
• Strong expertise in cross-asset market dynamics and liquidity management.
• Fluency in English; Mandarin or other Asian languages an advantage.

Responsibilities

Job description

Key Responsibilities

• Partner closely with Portfolio Managers and senior investment professionals to provide high-quality, timely, and efficient execution across multiple asset classes, including equities, derivatives, FX, and fixed income.


• Take ownership of trade execution and execution strategy, applying strong market knowledge, liquidity awareness, and sound judgment to achieve optimal execution outcomes.


• Provide market intelligence and trading insights to Portfolio Managers and Investment teams, including analysis of price movements, liquidity, market flows, positioning, volatility, and relevant news flow.


• Monitor global markets and proactively identify developments, opportunities, and risks that may impact portfolios and trading activities.


• Manage and execute trades across multiple accounts and strategies, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with investment mandates and internal trading controls.


• Work closely with Operations, Compliance, Risk, and other internal functions to ensure seamless trade processing, accurate booking and allocation, and effective resolution of trade-related matters.


• Analyse market, portfolio, and fund data to support investment decision-making and enhance execution and trading strategies.


• Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of trading processes, execution practices, market access, and risk controls.


• Serve as a trusted trading partner to Portfolio Managers and Investment teams, providing independent views on market conditions, liquidity, execution considerations, and trading risks.


• Maintain a strong understanding of global market structure, trading practices, liquidity conditions, and regulatory developments across relevant asset classes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Science, Engineering, or a related discipline. A strong quantitative and analytical background is preferred.

• Minimum 8-10 years of relevant trading experience within asset management, hedge funds, investment banking, proprietary trading, or other financial institutions.

• Demonstrated track record as an experienced trader with substantial hands-on experience across global financial markets and multiple asset classes.

• Strong expertise in one or more of equities, FX, fixed income, interest rate products, and derivatives, with a solid understanding of cross-asset market dynamics.

• Deep understanding of market structure, liquidity, execution strategies, trading costs, and risk management.

• Proven ability to independently manage complex and time-sensitive trading requirements, exercise sound judgment, and make informed decisions under pressure.

• Strong analytical and quantitative capabilities, with the ability to interpret market and fund data and translate insights into effective execution decisions.

• Highly organised and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and execute accurately in a fast-paced investment environment.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships with Portfolio Managers, Investment teams, and Front, Middle, and Back Office functions.

• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously with a high level of ownership, accountability, and professional judgment.

• Collaborative and commercially minded, with the ability to contribute meaningfully to the broader investment and trading platform.

• Strong commitment to integrity, risk discipline, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance.
