Job summary

SPD in Singapore is seeking a Therapy Assistant for our Rehab Centre at Tiong Bahru to support therapists in delivering rehabilitation programs. You will assist in client care, help with ambulation, transfers and group sessions, and coordinate with staff to ensure high-quality care.

The role requires at least a tertiary education and 1 year of patient-care experience, good communication, and the ability to perform basic emergency procedures.

Qualifications

  • Effective problem-solving skills, good communications and interpersonal skills.
  • Attend training and in-house education programmes.
  • Able to perform basic emergency procedures such as control bleeding, dressings, slings and splints.
  • Willingness to work weekends and after office hours if required.
  • Capable of meeting the physical demands of the role.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the maintenance rehabilitation of clients.
  • Assist physiotherapist and occupational therapist in implementing the rehabilitation program of clients.

Responsibilities
Client Care
  • Assist in the maintenance rehabilitation of clients.
  • Assist physiotherapist and occupational therapist in implementing the rehabilitation program of clients.
  • Assist client in their ambulation and movement in the centre and during transferring up and down from vehicle as well.
  • Assist and guide clients in the performance of their prescribed exercise routines and programmes.
  • Lead clients in group physical and cognitive session.
  • Coordinate with other colleagues to provide quality care to clients.
Administration
  • Responsible to and liaise with the therapists in all matters pertaining to administration.
  • Report clients’ progress to the therapist in-charge.
  • Maintain client’s therapy records
  • Engage in administrative duties relevant to departmental work
Centre Care / Maintenance
  • Maintain rehabilitation equipment and report malfunctioning or wear and tear.
  • Ensure that all electrical items are switched off before leaving the centre.
  • Ensure that all entrances are locked after end of the day.
Others
  • Assist in general duties of all staff involved at the centre.
  • Responds in an emergency
  • Establish and maintain good interpersonal relationships clients and staff.
  • Attend and participate in in-service education programmes
  • Report to Centre Manager of any incident or injury sustained by clients that may occur during the course of working.
  • Any other duties may be assigned from time to time.
Requirements
Qualifications
  • Minimum tertiary education with at least 1 year working experience on patient care
Knowledge
  • Understand the organisation’s role in the community
  • Understanding of the various programmes and functions provided by the organisation.
Skills / Expectations
  • Effective problem-solving skills, good communications and interpersonal skills
  • Attend training and in-house education programmes
  • Able to perform basic emergency procedures such as control bleeding, application of dressing’s slings and splints
  • Expected for duties during weekends, and/or any time after office hours, if deemed necessary
  • Capacity to meet the physical demands of the position which includes a broad range of activities, e.g. stooping, bending, lifting, grip strength and other physical requirements related to the role
  • Certified medically fit for employment by a registered medical practitioner

  • Capacity to work effectively in response to work demands (responding to client needs in a different circumstance including critical incidents)
  • Ability to contribute to a positive team culture where members strive for highest standards of service delivery
Experience
  • Possess strong commitment to team environment dynamics with the ability to contribute expertise and follow leadership directives at appropriate times.
