Job summary

Avensys Consulting PTE. LTD. is seeking a seasoned Application Support/BAU professional to join our Singapore team. You will translate business needs into technical requirements and troubleshoot React/TypeScript frontend, Java backend, and SQL databases.

Ideal candidates have strong COBOL/JCL/VSAM experience with legacy mainframe systems, plus ability to analyze operations, perform root-cause analysis, and collaborate with project leads and business users.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on experience in COBOL, JCL, VSAM and sequential files.
• Experience in Application Support / Production Support / BAU environments.
• Strong knowledge of Java and SQL, including application troubleshooting and database analysis.
• Hands-on experience with React and TypeScript frontend applications.
• Experience monitoring and troubleshooting batch processing jobs and batch cycles.
• Experience with legacy/mainframe application environments and file structures.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working with business users, project leads and development/technical teams.
• Good understanding of application testing, deployments and post-implementation support.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements.
• Analyze and design solutions for new enhancements and existing functionalities.
• Perform data mining and testing to ensure enhancements and existing functionalities meet business requirements.
• Work closely with project leads, business users and developers to improve processes and system functionality.
• Provide BAU support and troubleshooting for React/TypeScript frontend and Java applications post-implementation.
• Monitor and troubleshoot batch processing jobs, ensuring batch cycles complete successfully without failures.
• Write, optimize and troubleshoot SQL queries for reporting, data analysis and issue investigation.
• Maintain and support application code in COBOL and JCL, including legacy database and file structures such as VSAM and sequential files.
• Identify and resolve technical issues across React/TypeScript frontend applications, Java backends and SQL databases.
• Investigate frontend UI/UX issues and support improvements to application performance and user experience.
• Analyze operational issues, perform root-cause analysis and recommend system/process improvements.
• Collaborate with technical teams, project leads and business users to ensure smooth communication and effective issue resolution.
• Contribute to system enhancements, process automation and cross-functional technology initiatives.
