Job summary

Ingersoll Rand is seeking a skilled workshop technician in Singapore to repair, overhaul and refurbish compressor components. You will operate manual lathes and cylindrical grinders, read engineering drawings, and ensure parts meet tolerances and quality standards.

The role requires hands-on experience in conventional machining, dimensional inspection with micrometers and calipers, and adherence to safety and 5S practices.

Qualifications

• Background in Mechanical Engineering, Machining, or related discipline.
• 5 years of relevant machining experience in a manufacturing, repair, or workshop environment.
• Reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and tolerances.
• Experience in compressor or heavy machinery repair is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Operate conventional manual lathe and cylindrical grinding machines for repair and refurbishment.
• Perform machining, grinding, and fitting per engineering drawings.
• Disassemble, inspect, repair, reassemble compressor components.
• Conduct dimensional checks using micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, and dial indicators.
• Interpret technical drawings, repair specifications, and work instructions.
• Ensure machined parts meet dimensional and quality requirements.
• Maintain equipment, tools, and workspace per safety and 5S standards.
• Support continuous improvement to reduce outsourcing.
• Perform other workshop duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Selected incumbent will support repair, overhaul, and refurbishment activities for compressor and rotating equipment components. This role requires hands-on experience in operating conventional (non-CNC) machining equipment, including manual lathes and cylindrical grinding machines, to restore components to required specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate conventional manual lathe machines and cylindrical grinding machines for component repair and refurbishment.
• Perform machining, grinding, and fitting work in accordance with engineering drawings and repair procedures.
• Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble compressor components and related equipment.
• Conduct dimensional checks using precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, vernier calipers, bore gauges, and dial indicators.
• Interpret technical drawings, repair specifications, and work instructions.
• Ensure machined parts meet dimensional and quality requirements.
• Maintain equipment, tools, and work areas in accordance with safety and 5S standards.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance workshop capabilities and reduce outsourcing requirements.
• Perform other workshop duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Background in Mechanical Engineering, Machining, or related discipline.
• 5 years of relevant machining experience in a manufacturing, repair, or workshop environment.
• Strong hands-on experience operating:
• Conventional (manual) lathe machines
• Manual cylindrical grinding machines
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and tolerances.
• Experience in compressor, rotating equipment, pump, turbine, or heavy machinery repair is an advantage.
• Forklift license is preferred but not mandatory.
