Job summary

ASL Ship Managers and Consultants in Singapore seeks a Marine Chief Engineer/Technical Superintendent to oversee the daily operation of tanker vessels and to drive performance, safety and compliance across the fleet. The candidate holds a Marine Engineer Class 1 (Chief Engineer Unlimited) certificate with at least 5 years tanker experience and hands-on leadership capabilities.

Occasional travel and liaison with crews, authorities, and audits are expected.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily operation of assigned tanker vessels in accordance with HSSEQ and ASL System.
• Plan, manage, monitor and execute repairs, dry dockings and conversions within budgets.
• Monitor vessel performance and take remedial actions to optimize operations.
• Collect and evaluate emission/compliance data and obtain approvals (SEEMP/EEXI/CII).
• Follow up class and statutory certification, surveys (flag state, Panama Canal, etc.).
• Visit vessels regularly (two times a year minimum) and prepare visit reports; close deficiencies.
• Prepare management reports for Principals and General Manager approval.
• Maintain strict cost control of annual operating budgets; review monthly cost reports.
• Assist in SIRE inspections and TMSA audits.

Job description

• To manage the daily operation of the number of vessels assigned to him in accordance with ASL’s HSSEQ
• System.
• Plan, manage, monitor and execute vessels repairs, dry dockings and conversions within agreed budgets.
• Monitor the vessels performance trend and take necessary remedial actions to optimize vessel’s operations.
• Collection, Evaluation of Emission control / compliance data from ships and approval from relevant authorities (SEEMP / EEXI / CII).
• Follow up class and statutory certification status, condition of class and arrange for the necessary surveys (flag state, certification for Panama Canal etc.)
• Visit vessels regularly (at least two times a year, in Port + Sailing), prepare visit reports and follow up with
• closure of deficiencies observed
• Prepare biannual, triannual or quarterly management reports, as agreed with each Principal, for the General Manager’s approval.
• Maintain strict cost control of the Annual Operating Budget for each of the assigned vessels.
• Review monthly cost control and approve monthly financial reports before sending to Technical Manager for review.
• Actively participate in training and education of new crew and Office Staff joining ASL.
• Assists SIRE inspection, TMSA audits

Requirements:

• Marine Engineer Class 1 ( Chief Engineer Unlimited ) Certificate. Minimum 5 Years of Tanker experience is
• mandatory.
• Possess relevant sea-going work experience as Chief Engineer with minimum class 1 certification within experience in LPG / Oil tanker for a minimum 2 years.
• Experience working as a Technical Superintendent, and preferably with tankers (LPG / Oil) would be an advantage.
