Job summary

STMICROELECTRONICS PTE LTD in Singapore seeks an Equipment/Field Service Engineer to own the Trymax and Axcelis tools, drive uptime and performance, and collaborate with process and maintenance teams.

You will analyze tool data, implement preventive maintenance, lead root cause analyses, and contribute to continuous improvement while maintaining safety and compliance in a fast-paced semiconductor fab environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Materials Science Engineering, Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years of equipment/field service experience in semiconductors.
• Familiar with Trymax, Axcelis, Gasonic or Mattson tools.
• Proactive and adaptable with strong learning agility and ability to work independently.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• High degree of interpersonal skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
• Knowledge of SPC, FMEA, 8D methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Be the primary owner for assigned tools and ensure uptime targets.
• Plan, perform and optimize preventive maintenance per OEM and fab strategies.
• Analyze tool logs, SPC charts, metrology data, and wafer maps to correlate equipment conditions with yield and performance.
• Lead root cause analysis for chronic issues using structured methods (8D, Fishbone, 5-Why).
• Coordinate and supervise vendor field service engineers and contractors during major interventions and upgrades.
• Create and maintain SOPs, maintenance procedures, and training materials.

Job description

Key Responsibilities

1. Equipment Ownership & Uptime

• Serve asprimary ownerfor assigned tools, such as Trymax and Axcelis tools
• Maintain and continuously improveOEE,MTBF, andMTTRtargets.
• Develop and maintainequipment health monitoringandbaseline control(SPC, FDC, fault codes, alarms).
• Drive dailytool performance reviews, documenting issues, actions, and recovery plans.

2. Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Plan, execute, and optimizepreventive maintenance (PM)activities according to OEM recommendations and fab strategies.
• Performcomplex troubleshootingon electrical, mechanical, vacuum, RF, gas delivery, and software subsystems.
• Leadroot cause analysis (RCA)for chronic and high‑impact issues using structured methods (8D, Fishbone, 5‑Why, etc.).
• Coordinate and supervisevendor field service engineers (FSEs)and contractors during major interventions, upgrades, and rebuilds.

3. Process / Equipment Interaction

• Work closely withprocess engineeringto ensure equipment performance supportsCD, profile, uniformity, selectivity, and defectivityrequirements.
• Analyze tool logs, SPC charts, metrology data, and wafer maps to correlate equipment conditions with yield and parametric performance.
• Supportprocess qualifications,chamber swaps,hardware changes, andrecipe releases.
• Ensure correct implementation and maintenance ofchamber matching.

4. Continuous Improvement & Cost Reduction

• Identify and implementimprovement projectsto increase uptime, extend parts lifetime, and reduce operating cost.
• Optimizeconsumables usageandspare parts strategy(buffer stock, repair vs. replace, refurbishment plans).
• Participate in or leadCIP / Lean / Six Sigmaprojects for productivity and quality enhancement.
• Supportcapacity upgrades(chamber additions, throughput improvement, software enhancements).

5. Documentation, Procedure & Training

• Create and maintainstandard operating procedures (SOPs),maintenance procedures, andtroubleshooting guides.
• Document allevents, alarms, interventions, and changesin the equipment history system (EHS/CMMS).
• Providetechnical training and coachingto equipment technicians, junior engineers, and shift personnel.
• Ensure compliance withchange managementprocess for hardware, software, and recipe modifications.

6. Safety & Compliance

• Ensure all activities followEHS regulations, company safety rules, and cleanroom protocols.
• Conduct and supportrisk assessments, LOTO procedures, and safety audits for gas, chemical, RF, and high‑voltage systems.
• Support compliance withISO/Automotive/Quality Management Systemsas applicable.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Materials Science Engineering, Chemical Engineering or equivalent
• Minimum 2 years of relevant Equipment / Field Service experience in Semiconductor area
• Familiar with Trymax, Axcelis, Gasonic or Mattson tools
• Proactive and adaptable, with strong learning agility and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Good analytical and creative problem-solving skills with a keen eye to details
• High degree of interpersonal skills and able to work with cross-functional teams
• Knowledge of SPC, FMEA, 8D methodologies.
