Job summary

Grab is seeking a Technical Lead for the Scribe backend team in Singapore. You will set the platform’s technical direction, own architecture, cost, and reliability, and mentor senior engineers and interns.

This onsite role reports to the Engineering Manager in Singapore (One-North) and requires deep experience across Go, Python/Scala, and large-scale data pipelines. You will guide ingestion gateways, streaming pipelines, and data-lake workstreams, while driving cross-team architectural decisions

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience with breadth across backend and streaming systems.
• Proficient in Go; hands-on Python or Scala.
• Experience owning cloud cost for a large data platform on AWS.
• Experience defining and enforcing data contracts across producer teams.

Responsibilities

• Own the architecture and roadmap of Scribe's backend: ingestion gateway, event-lifecycle services, streaming and data-lake pipelines, and APIs behind the Scribe Portal and MCP.
• Lead Project MEGA to completion with typed specs, producer-side validation, CI guardrails, and migration of legacy events.
• Design and deliver the governed clickstream data layer and event vocabulary for funnel analytics.
• Run the platform cost programme: lineage, deprecation, retention, right-sizing and chargeback to producing teams.
• Write RFCs, drive cross-team technical decisions, and represent Scribe in reviews.
• Own operational excellence: on-call, incident response, post-mortems, SLA and data-loss monitoring.
• Lead an engineering team and grow the next technical leads.
