We are seeking a Technical Engineer with 3–5 years of relevant experience to support the engineering design, technical evaluation, grid connection, and delivery of renewable energy and power infrastructure projects. The role will primarily support renewable energy projects involving solar PV, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), wind and data center power infrastructure.
The successful candidate will work closely with internal project teams, EPC contractors, consultants, equipment suppliers, utilities, and other stakeholders to ensure projects are technically sound, compliant with applicable standards, and delivered according to project requirements.
1. Engineering Design & Technical Support
Support the preparation and review of electrical system designs, including Single Line Diagrams (SLDs), electrical layouts, equipment specifications, cable sizing, and protection requirements.
Perform and/or review technical calculations and engineering assessments for renewable energy projects and associated electrical infrastructure.
Support BESS sizing, inverter and PCS selection, Energy Management System (EMS) integration, and battery system configuration.
Assist in evaluating PV modules, inverters, transformers, switchgear, wind turbine systems, and other electrical equipment.
Assist in the design and evaluation of data center power supply systems, including reliability, redundancy, backup power, and energy efficiency requirements.
Review vendor and EPC technical submissions, drawings, specifications, and datasheets for compliance with project requirements and applicable standards.
2. Grid Connection & Power Systems
Support grid connection feasibility studies, applications, and technical submissions for renewable energy, energy storage and data center projects.
Perform and/or review load flow, short-circuit, protection coordination, harmonic, and other power system studies as required.
Assist in assessing MV/HV substations, transmission lines, transformers, and grid connection infrastructure.
Support the preparation and review of SCADA, protection, control, and metering system designs.
Coordinate with utilities, consultants, and EPC contractors to resolve grid connection and electrical engineering issues.
3. Project Engineering & Delivery
Support engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle, from feasibility and design through procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning.
Prepare and maintain technical documentation, engineering calculations, equipment specifications, technical reports, and design review comments.
Conduct technical evaluations of equipment suppliers, EPC contractors, and engineering consultants.
Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), inspections, testing, and commissioning activities for electrical and energy equipment.
Monitor engineering deliverables and identify technical risks, design issues, and potential project delays.
Support troubleshooting and resolution of technical issues during construction and commissioning.
4. Technical Coordination & Quality Assurance
Coordinate technical interfaces between electrical, civil, mechanical, control, and process engineering disciplines.
Review engineering drawings and documentation to ensure consistency with project specifications, contractual requirements, and applicable codes.
Support technical due diligence and feasibility assessments for new projects and investment opportunities.
Assist in identifying opportunities for system optimization, cost reduction, performance improvement, and technology enhancement.
Ensure engineering activities comply with relevant IEC, IEEE, NFPA, local utility requirements, and other applicable standards.
5. Stakeholder & Vendor Coordination
Coordinate with EPC contractors, consultants, equipment suppliers, utilities, and project partners on technical matters.
Participate in technical meetings, design reviews, and project discussions.
Support communication and technical coordination with international project teams and equipment suppliers, including counterparts in China.
Prepare technical presentations, reports, and recommendations for internal management and project stakeholders.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. A Master’s degree is an advantage.
Minimum 3 years of relevant engineering experience, preferably within renewable energy, power systems, utilities, EPC, energy storage, or related infrastructure projects.
Practical experience in one or more of the following areas: solar PV, BESS, wind energy, substations, or MV/HV electrical systems.
Good understanding of electrical system design, power system analysis, protection systems, and grid connection requirements.
Experience with renewable energy and/or power system engineering software such as PVSyst, ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSS/E, AutoCAD, or equivalent tools.
Familiarity with IEC, IEEE, NFPA, and other relevant electrical engineering standards.
Ability to read and review SLDs, electrical drawings, technical specifications, equipment datasheets, and engineering calculations.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills.
Good communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary and international teams.
Willingness to travel to project sites, suppliers, or manufacturing facilities when required.
Proficiency in English and Mandarin is preferred, as the role involves frequent technical communication and coordination with China-based counterparts.
Singaporeans preferred.
