Job summary

BW Offshore is seeking an experienced Technical Authority Structural to provide leadership, governance and assurance across our FPSO and offshore portfolio in Singapore. You will be the custodian of naval architecture standards, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient design and operation through the asset lifecycle.

This senior role combines deep technical mastery with strategic influence, collaboration and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Minimum 15 years’ experience in offshore O&G or closely related FPSO environment.
• Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; Bachelor with extensive relevant experience may be considered.
• Proven ability to lead in multidisciplinary, multinational settings.
• Experience as Principal/Lead Engineer or Technical Authority is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own and continuously develop the company’s structural technical standards.
• Provide expert technical guidance to projects, asset operations and technical teams.
• Lead verification and assurance activities ensuring compliance with standards and class rules.
• Review and approve technical deviations, methods and deliverables.
• Act as main technical interface with classification societies and regulators.
• Capture lessons learned and drive continuous improvement across assets.
• Mentor Structural Engineers across the organisation.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to deliver integrated, optimized solutions.

We are looking for an experienced Technical Authority Structural to provide technical leadership, governance, and assurance across our FPSO and offshore portfolio. In this role, you will be the custodian of naval architecture standards, ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient design and operation throughout the asset lifecycle, while influencing how the discipline continues to evolve. This is a senior expert role for someone who enjoys combining deep technical mastery with strategic influence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Key Tasks And Responsibilities

• Own and continuously develop the company’s structural technical standards, defining minimum requirements for projects and operations
• Provide expert technical guidance to projects, asset operations, and the wider technical organisation
• Lead and support verification and assurance activities, ensuring compliance with corporate standards, regulatory requirements, and class rules
• Review and approve technical deviations, engineering methods, tools, and key discipline deliverables
• Act as the main technical interface with classification societies, regulators, and industry bodies
• Capture and implement lessons learned from projects and operations to drive continuous improvement
• Mentor and support the professional development of Structural Engineers across the organisation
• Collaborate closely with other engineering disciplines to deliver integrated, optimised solutions.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 15 years’ experience in offshore Oil & Gas or a closely related industry working with floating production facilities
• Strong experience across both project and operational phases of offshore facilities, preferably FPSOs
• Previous experience as a Principal Engineer, Lead Engineer, or Technical Authority / Subject Matter Expert
• Proven ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary and multinational environments
• Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• Bachelor’s degree with extensive relevant experience may also be considered

Skills

• Deep expertise in structural, construction and materials engineering
• Strong understanding of industry rules and standards related Structural such as ABS, DNV, API, AISC, NORSOK, ISO and EC
• Knowledge of structural analysis softwares such as SACS, SASAM Genie, STAADPRO etc.
• Solid grasp of the technical, contractual, and commercial aspects of FPSO design, construction, and operation.

Practicalities

• The role may involve travel, including visits to project sites, shipyards, and offshore units
• Temporary assignments at project or asset locations may be required
