The Autism Resource Centre (Singapore) invites you to join the Youths for Autism Internship Programme, offering hands-on experience supporting students and clients with autism in education and inclusive workplaces in Singapore.

Youth interns will be deployed to Teaching, Digital Academy, Early Intervention, or Employability and Employment Centre tracks, gaining practical exposure while contributing to learning, development and well-being.

Qualifications

  • Passion for working with children or youths with special needs.
  • Patient, responsible, and willing to learn.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to commit to full duration of the internship.
  • No prior experience required - training will be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Support teachers or job coaches in delivering daily learning and engagement activities for students or clients with autism.
  • Assist in managing routines and ensuring a structured, safe, and supportive environment, whether in the classroom or workplace.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students or clients, based on their individual needs.
  • Help with the preparation of teaching, training, or vocational materials and resources.
  • Participate in student care activities, such as mealtimes, transitions, and outdoor learning.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other team members to support the holistic development of students.
  • Support school-wide or centre-wide events and initiatives (e.g., learning journeys, career fairs, or social activities)

Autism Resource Centre (Singapore) or ARC(S) is a non-profit charity organisation dedicated to serving individuals on the autism spectrum throughout their lives. Based in Singapore, ARC(S) offers a range of services and resources tailored to meet the growing concerns and needs of the autism community.

Youths for Autism (YFA) Internship Programme (https://yfa.autism.org.sg/) offers passionate and motivated young individuals the opportunity to gain hands-on experience supporting students and clients with autism. Interns will be meaningfully engaged in special education or inclusive workplace settings, while contributing to the learning, development, and well-being of students or clients in a supportive and inclusive environment.

As a YFA Intern, you will be deployed to one of the following departments based on your interest, strengths, and organisational needs:

  • Teaching Track (Primary, Secondary, or Vocational Track)
  • Digital Academy
  • Early Intervention Programme (EIP)
  • Employability and Employment Centre (E2C)
Your Impact and Contribution:
  • Support teachers or job coaches in delivering daily learning and engagement activities for students or clients with autism
  • Assist in managing routines and ensuring a structured, safe, and supportive environment, whether in the classroom or workplace
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students or clients, based on their individual needs
  • Help with the preparation of teaching, training, or vocational materials and resources

Learning Outcomes:
  • Develop greater awareness and understanding of autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
  • Learn strategies to engage and support the learning and behaviour of individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
  • Gain insight into the roles within special education and inclusive workplace settings
  • Build soft skills such as communication, teamwork, and empathy in a real-world environment
Requirements
  • Passion for working with children or youths with special needs
  • Patient, responsible, and willing to learn
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Able to commit to full duration of the internship
  • No prior experience required - training will be provided
Who Should Apply:
  • Pre-university students, undergraduates, or fresh graduates exploring careers in education, psychology, social work, or related fields
  • Individuals with an interest in supporting the special needs community

Remuneration: $1,600 per month

Internship Period: Now to End November/December 2026

End December 2026 to End May/June 2027 (Applications starts 1 August 2026)

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 7.30am - 4.30pm / 8am - 5pm / 9am - 6pm* Subjected to deployment
