Job summary

Brighton College (Singapore) is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support classroom teachers and contribute to a Mandarin language learning environment. You will work with individuals or small groups, promoting language development and assisting with general administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of experience working with children in a school.
• Mandarin ability preferred to teach Mandarin, but not required.
• Ability to work under pressure and use initiative is essential.
• Passionate and comfortable working with young children.
• Proficient in using computers.
• Good interpersonal and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

• Work with an individual or small groups of children as directed by the Classroom Teacher, Deputy Head or Head Master.
• Actively promote Mandarin language within the Pre-Prep dual language environment.
• Follow agreed programmes of work with individuals and groups toward targets.
• Contribute to the well-being of children (physical, emotional, social).
• Support staff with minor admin tasks during non-contact time (photocopying, filing, records).
• Make notes in Individual Education Plan (IEP) books for children as required.
• Contribute to the CCA programme within the school.
• Assist with children’s safe use of school transport arrangements.
• Provide any other duties delegated by School Management.

About The Role

To assist Classroom Teachers in providing a learning environment that supports the developmental and educational needs of all the children, under the overall direction of the class teacher and Deputy Head.

What You Will Be Doing

• To work with an individual or small groups of children as directed by the Classroom Teacher, Deputy Head or Head Master
• To actively promote the learning of Mandarin language within the Pre-Prep dual language environment
• To follow the agreed programmes of work with individuals and groups of children working towards set targets
• To contribute to the well-being of the children in terms of physical, emotional and social needs.
• To support staff with minor admin tasks when not directly working with pupils, For example in non-contact time E.g. photocopy, file or complete records

Who we are looking for:

• At least 1 year of experience in working with children in a school.
• Ability to converse in Mandarin is preferred in order to teach students mandarin language, but not a pre-requisite.
• Ability to work under pressure and use of initiative is essential
• Passionate and comfortable working with young children
• Proficient in using computers
• Good interpersonal and teamwork skills
