The Opportunity
An established international tanker operator is adding a Vessel Operator to its Singapore desk. The fleet trades on a mix of long term time charters, contracts of affreightment and spot fixtures, so every voyage needs its own plan. This hire joins a small, experienced operations team where each operator runs their own ships and is trusted to make the calls.
The Role
You will take a group of liquid bulk tankers from voyage instructions through to final accounts, with real authority to act.

• Run the voyage: issue instructions to Masters, manage arrival times and drafts, push for maximum cargo intake at load ports, track consumption and place bunker orders through brokers.
• Control the port call: appoint agents, review pro formas, question lost time before, during and after each call, and approve disbursements and freight invoices. You will also build voyage estimates and support demurrage and laytime claims.
• Raise the standard: keep voyage records sharp in IMOS, coordinate tank cleaning with owners and managers, and help the desk shape its KPIs and procedures.

Ships do not keep office hours. Critical issues get escalated to you around the clock, and your decisions directly affect cost, safety and customer delivery.

The Right Person

• Required: at least five years in tanker or marine operations, ideally chemical or liquid bulk, with confident working knowledge of time charter, COA and voyage charter terms. Practical understanding of cargo handling and tank cleaning is essential. A degree or diploma in a related field, or equivalent experience.
• A negotiator who holds firm with owners, agents and brokers without damaging the relationship, and who can work independently and stay organised when deadlines collide.
• Ready to make urgent decisions outside regular hours and to attend occasional port and vessel visits. IMOS experience is a plus.
