Job summary

Spinnaker in Singapore is seeking a freight trader with strong Supramax/Ultramax trading or chartering experience to join a seasoned commercial team. You will work across cargo and tonnage, pricing freight and developing relationships to secure spot voyages, COAs and longer-term opportunities.

You will be responsible for identifying commercial opportunities, managing period tonnage, and positioning cargo with an eye on risk and P&L in a fast-paced dry bulk environment.

Qualifications

• Strong Supramax/Ultramax freight trading or chartering experience.
• A good understanding of both cargo and tonnage.
• Experience pricing freight and fixing spot voyages, COAs and/or period business.
• Exposure to taking in and commercially managing period tonnage.
• A good understanding of freight risk, market exposure and commercial P&L.
• An established network across owners, operators, brokers and cargo interests.
• The ability to identify opportunities and take a commercial view on the market.
• A proven track record within established dry bulk trading or chartering environments.
• Good continuity in their career, with clear progression and increasing commercial responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Develop relationships with cargo interests, pricing and securing freight business, while commercially positioning and optimising period tonnage.
• The position covers spot voyages, COAs, longer-term cargo opportunities and period-in tonnage, with responsibility for identifying and trading commercial opportunities rather than simply executing fixtures.
• Strong Chartering Managers, Freight Traders and commercially minded dry bulk professionals could all be relevant, provided you have exposure to both sides of the freight book.

Job description

I'm working on a Supramax Freight Trader opportunity in Singapore with an established international dry bulk business.

The role sits within an experienced commercial team and would suit someone already trading or chartering Supramax/Ultramax who wants broader responsibility across cargo, tonnage and freight trading.

This is not simply a vessel employment role. You will work across both cargo and tonnage, developing relationships with cargo interests, pricing and securing freight business, while commercially positioning and optimising period tonnage.

The role covers spot voyages, COAs, longer-term cargo opportunities and period-in tonnage, with responsibility for identifying and trading commercial opportunities rather than simply executing fixtures.

I'm interested in speaking with people who have:

• Strong Supramax/Ultramax freight trading or chartering experience

You do not necessarily need to have "Freight Trader" as your current job title. Strong Chartering Managers, Freight Traders and commercially minded dry bulk professionals could all be relevant, provided you have genuine exposure to both sides of the freight book.
