Job summary

Naukri E-hire in Singapore seeks an experienced Chartering Manager to lead dry bulk commercial operations in an asset-light model. You will manage chartered-in tonnage, optimize voyages, and drive profitability under a dynamic market.

The role requires 5+ years in dry bulk chartering, strong negotiation, and proficiency in IMOS and voyage accounting. You will build relationships with brokers and owners, report to senior management, and influence strategic decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years in dry bulk chartering within an operator environment.
• Proven track record managing chartered-in tonnage and cargo books.
• Handy/Supramax market experience preferred.
• Strong existing network of brokers, owners, and charterers.
• Proficiency in IMOS (VIP preferred) and voyage accounting systems.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication.
• Strong negotiation skills across complex CP clauses; sharp analytical and numerical ability.
• Resilient, performance-driven, and comfortable operating under market volatility.

Responsibilities

• Manage a balanced portfolio of cargo contracts (COAs, spot cargoes) and chartered-in tonnage.
• Optimize freight spreads between cargo revenue and vessel hire.
• Execute time charter, voyage charter, and COA fixtures.
• Position vessels strategically based on forward market expectations.
• Monitor Baltic indices and route economics to guide commercial decisions.
• Lead negotiations with owners, charterers, brokers, and operators.
• Structure and negotiate CP terms — laytime, demurrage, bunker clauses, performance warranties.
• Ensure commercially robust fixtures with optimized terms and optionality.
• Prepare voyage estimates and sensitivity analysis.
• Track actual performance vs. estimates; manage hire, freight, demurrage, dispatch and claims.
• Identify cost optimization opportunities and report profitability/variance to management.
• Track freight markets across Handy, Supramax, and Panamax segments.
• Develop freight forecasts and commercial positioning recommendations.
• Identify arbitrage opportunities across regions and vessel sizes.
• Report to senior management and the Board.
• Coordinate with post-fixture, operations, and account teams to maximize tradable days.
• Work with technical managers on vessel performance and off-hire management.
• Support bunker procurement strategy.
• Build relationships with cargo interests, traders, brokers, and shipowners.
• Develop new cargo streams and tonnage sourcing channels.
• Manage freight volatility and operational risk exposure.
• Liaise with P&I Clubs and legal advisors on claims; support arbitration when needed.

About the Role

Key Responsibilities

Commercial & Freight Trading

• Manage a balanced portfolio of cargo contracts (COAs, spot cargoes) and chartered-in tonnage
• Optimize freight spreads between cargo revenue and vessel hire

• Position vessels strategically based on forward market expectations

Charterparty Negotiation & Contracts

• Lead negotiations with owners, charterers, brokers, and operators
