Job summary

TIAN SAN SHIPPING (PRIVATE) LIMITED is seeking a hands-on Supervisor reporting to the Contract Manager. You will supervise crew discipline, ensure smooth operations, and address client needs on a day-to-day basis.

Responsibilities include coordinating work among crew, ensuring service continuity during vessel breakdowns, liaising with clients, arranging bunkers and consumables, and reporting progress to Management. The role requires outdoor work, weekend shifts, and a proactive safety mindset.

Qualifications

  • Minimum diploma with relevant experience.
  • Experience on harbour vessels or ferry boats preferred.
  • Willing to work on weekends/public holidays.
  • Excellent planning and organizing skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate work amongst the crew and assign duties.
  • Coordinate with crews to ensure continuity of services during vessel breakdowns.
  • Liaise with clients and respond to their immediate requirements.
  • Work closely with clients to achieve mutual cooperation in difficult situations.
  • Arrange bunkers, lubricants, water and consumables; log records.
  • Monitor crew overtime and submit reports to Management.
  • Attend safety meetings and staff meetings at Head Office.

Job description

You are to report to the Contract Manager

As a supervisor, you are responsible for maintaining the strict discipline among workers and ensure smooth operations under your supervision. You are also to attend to their needs and immediate requirements from the client.

Role and Responsibilities
  • Ensure co-ordination of work amongst the crew and the proper assignment of their duties.
  • Co-ordinate closely with the crews to provide continuity of services to our clients in case of breakdown of any vessels.
  • Liaising with the clients and attending to their immediate requirements and requests.
  • Work in close co-ordination with the client so that mutual co-operation may be achieved in case of any difficult situation.
  • Arrange for bunkers, lub oil, water and necessary consumables for the vessels and keep record in the logbooks and the inhouse IT system.
  • keep records of the operations performed and monitor crew overtime incurred daily
  • submit necessary reports and log sheets to inform the Management of the progress of the work
  • attend necessary Safety Meetings accordingly
  • attend staff meetings at the Head Office, when necessary
  • inform your superior of any replacement vessel arranged to prevent disruption of service
  • Should you encounter any mechanical problems with the vessels, you are to refer such matters to the respective Marine Superintendent in charge and keep the Operation/Contract Manager informed,
  • You are required to liaise with the Marine Superintendent on dry docking preventive maintenance work and to keep the Operation/Contract Manager informed.
  • To oversee the marine transportation service as and when required.
  • The training of the new crew and initial operations as well as final phasing in will be your responsibility.
  • You are required to conduct spot checks on the crew to ensure that the relevant Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are available and are worn.
  • You are to assist another Officer/ Supervisor who may be on leave, ill, or absent due to reservist, etc. if deemed necessary by the Operation/Contract Manager
  • Any other duties as deemed necessary by Management
Requirements
  • Minimum diploma with relevant experience
  • Preferably have some ferry boat experience in Harbour vessels.
  • Enjoy working outdoors.
  • Willing to work on weekends/public holidays.
  • Positive working attitude
  • Good planning and organizing skills
  • Excellent MS Office skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines
  • Class 3 driving license preferable
