Job summary

Job Summary
  • Plan & execute trade job task as per specification with safety, quality and productivity in ship building and ship repair.
  • Prepare micro schedule, manhour loading, materials take off and monitor the work.
  • Perform duty in the most productive method.
  • Planning to ensure instructions regarding work requirements are relayed from the appropriate documents (Specifications, tender, work instructions, procedure, manuals)
  • Implement & follow up with operators to ensure compliance of productivity, quality, environment, occupational health, and safety requirements.
  • Co‑ordinate simultaneously with supervisory staff of different trade and projects.
Key Responsibilities
  • Read & understand technical specifications, prepare job list, work schedule, plan materials take off and manpower planning of yard men & contractor for each given job.
  • Order the materials required as per materials take off and coordinate with purchase department for timely delivery of the materials.
  • Plan out and prepare all permit to work system related to marine safety, prepare risk analysis (RA), conduct RA briefing before starting work.
  • Conduct morning RA briefing with foreman and workers generic and critical activities briefing in workplace to identify and eliminate the hazards.
  • Carry out daily toolbox talk.
  • Demonstrate excellent organizational skill, following polices, safe work procedures, work practice and developing improvements where necessary.
  • Plan & prepare tools, equipment, transportation, materials and manpower, control manhour for all given jobs.
  • Ensure foreman understand and implement the work plan, by explaining and engaging in pro‑active communication with workers or contractors.
  • Understand all given jobs, supervise, and give detail instruction to subordinates and contractors.
  • Cooperate with SRM, owner rep & other trade supervisors on appropriate procedures and ensure job to be completed smoothly & on schedule.
  • Ensure safety, discipline, and welfare for all subordinates.
  • Ensure all work completion reports have been made & signed by owner rep and submit to commercial dept on time.
  • Ensure subcontractor work order to be raised immediately once confirmation of job by owner representative.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and safety at all the time onboard vessel & workshop. Ensure all workers follow safe work procedure all the time.
  • To attend VSCC meeting to report progress on daily basis.
  • Responsible for minimum wastage of materials and balance materials to accounted and returned to store at the end of the project.
  • Liaising with Engineer and manager to solve the problem and decision making for on‑site issues.
  • Contribute Idea to improve working method.
  • Ensure permit to work system is followed strictly.
  • To support foreman and planners in preplanning, generation of programs and follow up of all job in order to utilize optimum resources – manpower & equipment.
  • Pre‑planning and follow up inter‑trade sequence and interreference to ensure optimum usage of resources.
  • Co‑ordinate with project manager/Engineers, owner rep., other trade supervisory staff as well ad internally in the department with work preparation, fabrication and materials control.
  • Co‑ordinate for resources from shop, other trade, as the case may be.
  • Ensure all safety requirements for those reporting to them and process under their supervision are complied with-raise occurrence reports and safety infringements in case of non‑compliance. Maintain good housekeeping in all work area of the project onboard, jetty and workshop.
  • Stop process if they do not meet the requirements, raise occurrence reports and approve satisfactory completion if any rework that may be necessary.
  • Motivate the team for optimum performance, monitor the performance and provide continue appraisal of all subordinates.
  • To communicate upwards -training needs, process improvements suggestions and follow up on implementation.
  • Have the ownership of success or failure, as the case may be on their projects.
  • Maintain all the management system and production records.
  • Prepare progress reports, KPI reports, Adjustment Work Request Form (AWRF) and Work Done Report (WDR)
  • If tasked for Night Shift, carry out Night Shift Duty Officer / Supervisor roles accordingly.
Key Requirements
  • 3 Years above with relevant working experience
  • Good computer skills, leadership and communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Able to plan and co‑ordinate ship building / ship repair work with safety and quality as per schedule
  • Able to manage people.
  • Able to carry out manpower loading plan
  • To motivate and give ideas to subordinates.
  • Able to identify problem / bottlenecks and take corrective action which can delay the project schedule.
