Job summary

Sapling Grove is seeking an Art Mentor to guide primary school students through creative exploration, helping them express ideas and grow confidence in their abilities. You will plan and run engaging art programmes, introduce diverse techniques, and develop projects that foster curiosity and collaboration while maintaining a safe, inspiring learning space and working with the Centre Manager.

Your role emphasizes hands-on learning, positive relationships, and encouragement of students' own ideas

Qualifications

• Experience teaching or conducting art activities for children.
• Diploma or relevant qualification in arts or education preferred.
• Creative and confident in developing hands-on art activities.

Responsibilities

• Plan and conduct engaging art and creative programmes for primary school students.
• Introduce students to different art techniques, materials and creative processes.
• Develop age-appropriate art projects that encourage creativity, exploration and self-expression.
• Prepare lesson plans, activity materials and art resources.
• Encourage students to develop their own ideas rather than simply copying examples.
• Guide students in completing individual and collaborative creative projects.
• Support the development and improvement of the centre's Art Programme.
• Maintain a safe, organised and inspiring art-learning environment.
• Build positive relationships with students and provide appropriate guidance and encouragement.
• Observe students' participation, interests and development and provide feedback to the Centre Manager.
