Job summary

ASCEND ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGIES PTE. LTD. is seeking an Inspection professional to conduct thorough reviews of structural fabrication, piping installation, and related activities on offshore, shipyard or industrial projects.

The role requires reading engineering drawings and P&IDs, performing tolerance checks, and ensuring compliance with ITPs, quality requirements and safety standards. You will coordinate with engineers, QA/QC and site teams to close non-conformities and maintain meticulous

Qualifications

• Diploma, Higher Nitec, Nitec or related technical qualification in mechanical/structural disciplines.
• Experience in structural, piping, marine, shipyard, offshore or construction projects is required.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, isometrics, P&IDs, specs and inspection documents.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspection of structural fabrication, fit-up, installation, and repair works.
• Inspect piping fabrication, fit-up, alignment, installation, and testing activities.
• Verify work against drawings, specifications, procedures, ITPs, and quality requirements.
• Carry out flange management inspections, including flange condition, alignment, gasket installation, bolting and tightening.
• Witness and verify bolt tightening, torqueing, and tensioning per procedures and specs.
• Ensure torque tools and equipment are properly maintained and calibrated.
• Conduct visual inspections and identify defects, non-conformities, and workmanship issues.
• Raise inspection reports and coordinate rectification and re-inspection.
• Verify inspection and test records are completed and maintained.
• Coordinate with Engineers, Supervisors, QA/QC, production teams, clients, and third-party inspectors.
• Monitor compliance with quality, safety and project requirements.
• Maintain records for flange management, bolting/torque, inspection reports and quality docs.
• Participate in toolbox meetings and promote safe working practices during inspection activities.

Education

Diploma, Higher Nitec, Nitec, or relevant technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Structural Engineering, Welding/Fabrication, or a related engineering discipline

Roles and Responsibilities

• Ensure the use of properly maintained and, where required, calibrated torque tools and equipment.


• Conduct visual inspections and identify defects, non-conformities, and workmanship issues.


• Raise inspection reports and coordinate rectification and re-inspection of defective work.


• Verify that inspection and test records are properly completed and maintained.


• Coordinate with Engineers, Supervisors, QA/QC personnel, production teams, clients, and third-party inspectors.


• Monitor compliance with applicable quality, safety, and project requirements.


• Maintain proper records for flange management, bolting/torque activities, inspection reports, and quality documentation.


• Participate in toolbox meetings and promote safe working practices during inspection activities.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Diploma, Higher Nitec, Nitec, or relevant technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Structural Engineering, Welding/Fabrication, or a related engineering discipline.


• Relevant experience in structural, piping, marine, shipyard, offshore, or construction projects.


• Knowledge of structural fabrication and piping installation methods.


• Knowledge of flange management, flange alignment, gasket installation, bolting, torqueing, and tensioning procedures.


• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, isometric drawings, P&IDs, specifications, and inspection documents.


• Knowledge of QA/QC inspection procedures, including ITPs, inspection reports, NCRs, and quality records.


• Familiarity with relevant industry standards, project specifications, and quality requirements.


• Experience using inspection and measuring tools.


• Good communication and coordination skills.


• Ability to prepare inspection reports and maintain proper documentation.


• Relevant safety training or shipyard safety certification, where required by the project or worksite.
