Qualifications

Strategic Operations Lead – Web3, Stablecoins & Payments

About the Role

Our client is seeking a Strategic Operations Lead – Web3, Stablecoins & Payments to help shape and execute new initiatives at the intersection of digital assets, payments and trade finance.

This is a hands‑on individual contributor role for someone who is comfortable operating where the problem, product or solution may not yet be fully defined.

You will be expected to understand the underlying business problem, investigate the market and operational context, evaluate different approaches, form a recommendation and personally work across functions to bring the chosen solution into implementation.

The role sits across Strategy, Product, Engineering, Operations and Compliance, with a particular focus on how stablecoins, blockchain infrastructure and new payment and settlement models can be applied to real‑world B2B financial workflows.

Importantly, the objective is not to use blockchain or stablecoins for their own sake. The successful candidate should have the judgement to determine when these technologies genuinely improve an existing financial workflow — and when another solution may be more appropriate.

This is not a software engineering role, traditional project‑management role or business‑development position.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Problem Solving & New Initiatives

Take ownership of strategic initiatives where the business problem or eventual solution may initially be unclear.
Understand the underlying commercial, customer and operational problem before determining possible solutions.
Structure ambiguous issues, identify the information required and develop a clear approach to investigating them.
Evaluate different options across commercial, operational, regulatory and technical considerations.
Develop clear recommendations and business cases for senior stakeholders.
Challenge assumptions, including whether blockchain, stablecoins or other technologies are genuinely required.
Turn recommendations into practical implementation plans and personally drive initiatives forward.
Adapt the approach as new information, regulatory requirements or operational constraints emerge.

Product Strategy & Solution Design

Translate business and operational requirements into product requirements, workflows and solution designs.
Work with Product and Engineering to evaluate feasibility, technical trade-offs, integration requirements and implementation approaches.
Contribute to product‑roadmap and prioritisation decisions for Web3, payments and digital‑asset initiatives.
Evaluate potential infrastructure providers, technology partners and third‑party solutions where appropriate.
Consider build‑versus‑partner decisions based on business needs rather than technology preference.
Define implementation phases, decision points, success measures and operating requirements for new initiatives.

Stablecoins, Payments & Digital Assets

Evaluate practical applications of stablecoins and blockchain infrastructure within B2B payments, settlement and trade‑finance workflows.
Understand end‑to‑end financial flows involving areas such as:
- stablecoin settlement
- cross‑border payments
- fiat and digital‑asset payment rails
- wallets and custody
- fiat on/off ramps
- liquidity and conversion
- blockchain networks
- APIs and third‑party integrations
- settlement and reconciliation
Assess how traditional financial infrastructure and blockchain‑based infrastructure can work together within a single solution.
Consider regulatory, compliance, counterparty, liquidity and operational implications when evaluating new payment models.
Monitor developments across stablecoins, institutional digital assets and payment infrastructure and assess their practical relevance to the business.

B2B Financial & Trade Workflows

Develop an understanding of the commercial and operational requirements behind B2B financial transactions.
Analyse how buyers, suppliers, financial institutions, payment providers and technology partners interact within a proposed solution.
Evaluate opportunities to improve payment, settlement, financing or working‑capital workflows using new technology.
Work with internal and external subject‑matter experts where deeper trade‑finance, regulatory or technical expertise is required.

Cross‑Functional Execution

Own initiatives from problem definition → investigation → options → recommendation → solution design → implementation → launch.
Work directly with Product, Engineering, Operations and Compliance rather than handing execution to a separate project team.
Coordinate external technology, payment or infrastructure providers where required.
Resolve implementation issues and make practical trade‑offs as projects progress.
Establish the processes and operational workflows required to support new products or initiatives.
Monitor outcomes following implementation and identify opportunities for further improvement.
Present progress, recommendations, risks and key decisions clearly to senior stakeholders.

What We’re Looking For

5+ years of relevant experience across fintech, payments, digital assets/Web3, product management, product strategy, strategic operations, venture building, product operations or related areas.
Meaningful professional exposure to Web3, crypto, stablecoins, digital payments or digital‑asset infrastructure.
Demonstrated ability to work on problems where the solution was not initially defined.
Strong evidence of personally analysing a problem, evaluating alternatives, forming a recommendation and driving the resulting initiative into execution.
Experience taking products, initiatives or new business capabilities from early‑stage concept or requirements through implementation and launch.
Strong understanding of payment and settlement processes.
Ability to translate business requirements into product requirements, workflows or practical solution designs.
Comfortable working directly across Product, Engineering, Operations and Compliance.
Sufficient technical fluency to discuss APIs, system integrations, blockchain networks, wallets, custody and payment infrastructure with technical stakeholders.
Able to communicate complex problems and recommendations clearly and in a structured manner to senior stakeholders.
Comfortable operating independently in a hands‑on individual contributor role without an established playbook or large team.
Comfortable working with evolving requirements, changing priorities and an evolving product roadmap.
Strong analytical judgement, curiosity, ownership and execution capability.
