Job description

At Maersk, our Ocean Global Stowage Planning team is at the heart of global trade. As a Stowage Planner, you will be shaping the final piece of the logistics chain—designing smart, safe, and efficient stowage plans that keep world trade moving. Your role ensures vessels sail at their best, balancing operational efficiency with the highest safety standards for crew, cargo, and ship.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design the position of boxes on the ship and produce a seaworthy layout ensuring safe sailing and segregation of dangerous goods.
  • Set up bays to allow maximum number of cranes, evenly distribute weight, and meet stability, stress, and safety criteria.
  • Uphold high stowage planning standards to maximize vessel utilisation with minimal operational costs.
  • Follow the entire stowage process with stakeholders, evaluating and determining the suitability of vessels deployed in service based on trade requirements and vessel characteristics.
  • Review and update SOPs continuously to ensure optimal performance for the team and all stakeholders.
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders (terminals, regional operations, ship commands, nautical, network, deployment etc.) to ensure smooth operations.
  • Identify potential operational issues, highlight them, and follow up with necessary actions to mitigate impacts from contingencies.
Qualifications
  • Approximately 3 years of experience in stowage planning, terminal planning, container shipping operations, or seafaring naval architecture/engineering.
  • Ready to work irregular hours, including a rotational night shift occurring approximately once every six weeks.
  • Self‑driven, responsible, and able to thrive in fast‑paced, dynamic environments.
  • Strong time‑management, adaptability, agility, along with excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Agility to learn new technologies and operating systems, mastering multiple programs and software.
  • Ability to complete Basic Theory and Basic Stowage Proficiency Assessments during onboarding.
Benefits

This position offers an excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic, international environment with skilled and dedicated colleagues, with a focus on diversity, inclusivity, performance, safety, well‑being, work‑life balance, and flexible working hours.
