About our group:
The Media Research & Development team is based in Woodlands Singapore W2 and plays a pivotal role in advancing Seagate’s HDD and HDI technologies. mDVL (mechanical Drive Validation Lab) serves a critical role to provide mechanical test solutions for media product and process. The group collaborates closely with our Singapore Design Centre and US team to drive innovation in media mechanical design and process improvements, ensuring high standards in defect performance and drive reliability.
About the role - you will:
  • Lead mDVL (Mechanical Drive Validation Lab) assessments to support prediction and validation efforts for media design and process improvements, with a focus on HDM and defect performance.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including SSDC and FRC to identify and resolve drive failure modes and related issues.
  • Apply expertise in HDI, tribology, and HDD testing methodologies to enhance product quality and performance.
  • Conduct drive‑level testing and programming, leveraging advanced lab skills and data analysis techniques.
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of testing protocols and predictive models.
  • Involves AI Project Development
About you:
  • A proactive and analytical problem‑solver with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced R&D environment.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to continuous learning and technical excellence.
Your experience includes:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Physics, or Nanotechnology.
  • Proven experience in HDD and HDI relevance testing.
  • Hands‑on experience in drive‑level testing, programming, and lab‑based analysis.
  • Familiarity with tribology and defect performance evaluation.

You might also have:

  • Knowledge in Signal Processing, Controls, Embedded Firmware, and Mechanical Design.
  • Experience working with cross‑functional teams in a global organisation.
