Job summary

Ambiq seeks a Staff Embedded Software Engineer, DSP to drive development and testing of the customer DSP environment in the AmbiqSuite SDK on Ambiq SoC devices and emulation platforms. You will refine the HiFi5 DSP execution environment, including real‑time schedulers and IPC/RPC protocols.

This role will port and optimize HAL code for DSP peripherals and bring up the DSP as a co‑processor for the ARM Cortex‑M55, collaborating with global MCU and architecture teams.

Qualifications

• MS in ECE or Computer Science with 6+ years of experience, or BS in ECE/CS with 8+ years.
• 3+ years focusing on DSP software environments and code development.
• Experience with Cadence HiFi5 DSP and Xtensa toolchain.
• Experience with inter‑processor communications using hardware mailboxes and shared memory.
• Experience with multicore embedded processing systems.
• Experience with DSP algorithms on DSPs (AEC, NR, EQ, AGC) a plus.
• Proficiency in C and assembly for ARM Cortex‑M; MCUs and IDEs (Keil, IAR, Eclipse).
• Proficiency with profiling tools; Python desirable.
• Strong debugging, lab equipment, Jira/Confluence and Git.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development and maintenance of HAL interfaces for HiFi5 DSP peripherals.
• Evaluate RTOS or lightweight schedulers and port to SDKs.
• Design boot state machines and IPC/RPC protocols.
• Develop examples and software test cases for the DSP environment.
• Support customer use of the environment and optimize workloads.
• Contribute to pre‑silicon verification on FPGA and post‑silicon bring‑up.
• Support DV/validation engineers, field engineers, and key customers as needed.
