Job summary

Kulicke & Soffa Pte Ltd in Singapore seeks a Staff Procurement Engineer to drive product cost optimization and supplier strategies across the lifecycle. You will partner with Engineering and cross-functional teams to meet cost, quality, and delivery targets while supporting new product introduction through cost analysis and stakeholder alignment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Materials Engineering or related field.
• Typically 13+ years of relevant experience in Procurement or Materials Engineering.
• Working knowledge of geometric tolerances.
• Experience in creating or modifying manufacturing processes and procedures.
• Experience in managing overseas suppliers.
• Understand BOM structure, interpret drawings/specifications, and be familiar with Engineering Change Process.
• Experience in Operations Management or capital equipment design is a plus.
• Strong analytical, planning and interpersonal skills and stakeholder engagement experience.
• Positive, fast-paced, mature, independent and results-oriented.
• Able to collaborate across departments and travel as required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Act as a key partner in driving significant product cost reduction initiatives, collaborating with design engineers during development and manufacturing phases.
• Ensure cost, quality, and availability targets are achieved throughout product development and lifecycle.
• Drive cost savings through cost reduction projects and NPI initiatives.
• Manage cost roadmap information, including presentations and updates for stakeholders.
• Maintain up-to-date cost models for assigned products or modules.
• Ensure project or product cost targets are achieved.
• Facilitate early supplier involvement and identify cost drivers to influence design decisions.
• Lead make-vs-buy analyses to support strategic decisions.
• Drive VAVE initiatives for sustainable cost reduction.
• Develop Supply Chain SME to enable technology collaboration with suppliers.
• Lead supplier communication on ECO implementation and RFQ management.
• Strengthen governance in new supplier onboarding and compliance with council approvals.
• Review and negotiate supplier terms and conditions and handle exceptions to mitigate risks.
• Manage procurement activities: quotations, documentation, and processes to support engineering and manufacturing.
• Lead new product sourcing and management with Engineering, Quality, and NPI stakeholders.
• Build strong relationships with suppliers, internal customers, and cross-functional teams.
• Collaborate with Supplier Quality in new supplier and component releases for quality and sustainability.
• Support price negotiations for short- and long-term cost reductions.
• Execute commodity strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Analyze lead times and critical paths to prioritize demand.
• Participate in project meetings to identify feasible solutions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
