Job summary

Airwallex Singapore is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to architect and build secure, scalable backend systems powering our lending platform and enabling fast, compliant credit experiences.

You will lead design reviews, shape the system architecture, and mentor engineers while upholding engineering excellence. You’ll collaborate with Product, Risk, and Compliance to deliver enterprise-ready credit services and APIs at global scale.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, Engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.
• At least 2 years in a technical leadership role mentoring engineers.
• Strong backend experience with Java or Kotlin and Spring.
• Experience designing RESTful APIs and distributed systems.
• Cloud experience with GCP or AWS, plus Docker and Kubernetes.
• Familiar with observability tools (Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus).

Responsibilities

• Lead design reviews, shape systems architecture, and mentor engineers while raising the bar for code quality and engineering practices.
• Build resilient, high-throughput services that perform reliably at global scale with strong testing and observability.
• Partner with Product, Risk, Compliance, and other teams to evolve the platform and support expansion into new financing products.
• Own the technical foundations that enable secure, scalable lending services and APIs for enterprise clients and their users.
